I've been happily married to my best friend for almost 16 years so I certainly don't fall into the category of thinking that marriages are disposable although I must admit I haven't seen that attitude anywhere in this thread. I think people get disgusted by her nastiness to her husband and her children and I think it's completely justified to feel that way regardless of editing or anything else. If the roles were reversed and John acted like Kate and Kate acted like John that show would be taken off of the air pretty darn quick. Everyone would be screaming emotional abuse if a man were treating a woman that way.

I have to add that Kate's bitchiness and John's immaturity and any infidelities aside, I think any couple who chooses to make their family a reality show is pretty low. Children should not be supporting their family and their childhood should not be sold to the public. It's disgusting.

I've only watched the show once. It was a day long marathon so I watched for a few hours. The last episode was when they moved into their new house. I had no opinion of her before this. At the end of the episode she was standing in the kitchen looking out the window and said this......It's MINE...all MINE. As far as you can see.. It's MINE!
That spoke volumes to me about her character, I won't be watching again.

Was that the one where she invited her children into her new bedroom and then screamed at them to 'take a good look because you will never be in here again!" and ignored the pleading cries of one to please come wipe him by rolling her eyes and continuing to clean the refrigerator? I only have one child so obviously can't appreciate the challenges that go along with having so many children but if that's what it takes, I am even more grateful for my decision.

i will say i have to agree with her on the bedroom issue...with 8 kids a mom and dad deserve a place all their own...my parents bedroom was always their "place" we knocked before we came...she did add that if anyone was hurt or bleeding they were allowed in...as much as my mom has done for me,she deserves some down time without being bothered

I too used to love the show, but got tired of the way Kate talks to John. I agree that if the roles were reversed and he talked to her like that it would be a whole different story.

The children are going to grow up thinking it is okay to disrespect your partner the way that she does. Marriage is hard work and I can't imagine being in the public eye the way that they are (their choice). True partnership takes love and respect for each other, which I think is lacking in this marriage!

I always had to knock on my parent's bedroom door and my daughter has been taught this as well. I also knock before entering her room. It just seemed nasty to yell, you will never be in here again! Again, I don't have 8 children but if that's what it takes... I don't know, I'm just not that kind of mom so I guess it's a good thing I haven't and wouldn't put myself in a position to have to be that kind of mom. It is beyond my imagination to ban my child from my bedroom at all times. Since my daughter was little she has enjoyed sitting in my bathroom with me and chatting while I do my hair and makeup or lying in the bed watching movies together... Maybe it's a perk of not having so many or maybe Kate's just a bitch, I have no idea.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's been a hard thing to teach my 12 year old to knock before he comes into our room. So we keep it locked sometimes but make sure it's unlocked and opened before we go to sleep at night. My son still comes and get's in the bed with me of the morning after my husband goes to work. He's a mamma's boy and I wouldn't have it any other way. I do feel sorry for their children because, they think that it's normal to have a camera record your every move.

I do still watch the show, but not for the parents, for the kids. I just think they are absolutely adorable and I hope they don't get messed up in all of this. I don't care who cheated on who. It's not my business and no one would know if they weren't put out there for the public eye. I don't think it's right the way Kate talks to Jon though. I mean, everyone has their days when they say something nasty to their spouse, but she's very controlling and dominant and sarcastic. He's also incredibly immature sometimes though, so I can see sometimes where she does get frustrated. I think bottom line is that even though it's a "reality" show, we don't always get the entire picture. There is a lot more going on behind closed doors, whether it's good or bad. For the kids sake, I hope they cancel the show, get marriage counseling and try to repair what damage has been done.

I've always enjoyed watching the show, however I do agree that Kate is a bitch and treats Jon as the ninth child. It's ridiculous the crap he takes from her and I'm surprised we haven't seen more blow-ups from him... he SEEMS (again, this is just from what I see on TV) like a very good dad. He does the best he can having EIGHT of them! I can't even imagine how stressful that is so you can't blame them for being snarky with each other sometimes.

I hope John and Kate are at the end of themselves. I hope they have a sense of failure that will make them want some help. Instead I think they will just bail out of their marriage. They have an overwhelming job to parent so many multiples. But that is where my sympathy ends. They choose this! I think they always wrote off how they speak to each other as, we don't have time to say it nice , we understand each other and need to get things done. As if it takes more time to be kind when asking for something.
It is easy to get into bad habits, and they are getting rich with every unkind, over spoken thing they do. There is a huge part of my heart that wishes they could get some counseling and rebuild their marriage. If it becomes a train wreck more people will watch the show. I hurt for the kids that have to watch them and participate in the filming.
Money can't buy what they need. I wonder if they would go back and make different choices if they could. Greed is a demanding mistress.

I feel very sorry for those 8 innocent children... They were used to make $$ and I think it is ridiculous!! Kate is a real bitch and really doesn't seem interested in her children or her marriage. It's the material things that the children's $$ buys. It's not up to the little kids to support the family. Hopefully when their older they'll realize that they were being used!! When Kate said about the new house that it was all hers...It made me sick to my stomach!! She has Nannies,Housekeepers and spends more time on the road than with the kids or Jon! He's 31 years old But, She treats him like a child and infront of Millions... I wish she'd give him his nads back and he'd grow a backbone and stand up to her!! If he had an affair I can see why. She probably treated him like a man and not a child! Kate should be more concerned about her marriage and the family they made together. Not about huge homes,Designer Clothes and Shoes!! I feel bad for them too- I think they thought- this is TLC- it will just be a show that some people think is interesting- it will be our own home videos- end of story. No one ever goes into anything hoping for the outcome they have gotten... I hope they can make it through this.

I really think that too. I guess it adds more drama to peoples imaginations to think that they tried to get pregnant for twins then sextuplets and had the sole purpose of exploiting them to get rich. :rolleyes: I don't think anyone plans to become such a "celebrity" off of a TLC show, and I certainly don't think that they planned their family with the intention of getting a reality TV show. I think if people actually prayed for them instead of preying on the drama of any difficulties they may have, this would have turned itself around by now.

All I can say is WOW, but seriously if I heard Kate say , " I had to do it ALONE, I went to the store with the kids ALONE, I was here today ALONE, I had to do the party favors ALONE. My God, there are plenty of woman out there that have 8 children, they are not babies anymore they are 5 years old. I felt really bad for John, it made me so sad to see the tension between them and did anyone notice when Leaah hugged him and said I only kiss and hug my parents he swallowed really hard when she said I love you... aww I started to cry.. I really think Jon is a wonderful dad, he does alot for those kids.. more then alot of my friends husbands did, he makes thier bed and gets them dressed everyday so the queen can sleep in.. :confused:, I think its soo soo sad , they were such a happy family and they seemed so in love before the show took over.. however this is just my opionion, but I really think Kate LOVES the paperatzi... I think she thinks she is awesome they follow her around... she was like gloating they were hiding in the woods while you never heard Jon say a word.. God Bless those little kids they have a big family change ahead.. so so sad for all of them..

Mindirose, out of all of the gossip and theories I've read about the Gosslins I haven't read one single time that anyone thinks they had those children with the intent of being celebrities or that they had any thoughts of having a television show when planning their family. Seriously, not one single time. Where did you get that idea?:confused:
