This s/b a hoot! What were u like in HS? What were you like in high school? And don't blast me for stereotyping, this is how you and others saw yourself! I was gonna make this a poll. Still could I guess, if you guys will help me with the categories... Popular Brainiac Too Cool for School Geek Freak Prep Lady Beautiful/Lord Handsome Goth (this didn't even exist when I was in HS!) Jock Sports Snob (a category I have for those who think you're invisible unless you are a star!) The Girl (or Guy) next door Band Geek (not a derogatory term IMO) Princess Comedian Teacher's Pet, aka Suck Up, lol Prom Queen/King Loner Or something I've not mentioned, or a combination of a few? The above are just to get ya thinkin'. Maybe you ran with just a few friends or were comfortable in more than one crowd? Did you date much or not at all? Did you spend your 4 years with just one steady (wow, that's an outdated term!)? Did you push the envelope or go with the flow? Were you a fighter or peace-maker? I'm always fascinated by the way people change (or not) after they mature and are out in the real world. Do experiences that we have in high school, good or bad, shape who we become later in life?? Who has actually been back to their high school reunion? Nuh Uh, not me!!! I'll add mine in a little while, gotta go cook supper...And, by the way, wonder what category FastEddie was in?? LOL! Hope he answers...It may surprise us! |
i am not in high skool yet :D |
wow..i guess i'd fit into a few different ones.. i was classified as comedian and popular.. |
High school was only three years ago for me...but I do think who we are in High School is not who we really are sometimes...we change and mature and become better people... I was an athlete...I swam for the school and for a club team...I had two close friends and that was about it...Swimming was my life and that was about it...I didn't date much and still don't but I feel like when the right guy comes along you will know...I was selfish and usually only thought about things would effect me...and I couldn't wait to get out of the house...that has changed because now I LOVE living at home... Good idea for a thread...should be interesting learning about everyone!! |
i more or less "floated" between all these groups, i was pretty much well liked by everyone (except all the guys that wanted to ask me out DIDNT!!! GRRRRRR, because of my stupid brother).....everyone knew me more or less because of my borhter, so i was popular my association (lol, unwanted association)..... in my senior year actually i barely went to school, as long as i showed up for the tests and get good grades my parents would call me out sick |
Too cool for school and Band geek (only back then we were called "Band candies") !!!! |
I was a popular, preppy, jock. I got good grades and all. I really did get along with all the different groups. :) |
I was a brain/hood/outcast/goody-goody. I was a brain cause i liked to read, was in the smart classes, and got good grades. I was a hood because that was the only group that would accept me and they were nice to me. I was an outcast because I didn't really fit into any mold and was obnoxious. I was a goody-goody because I went to church, listened to neil diamond, and didn't drink or smoke. Things changed when i went to collage. I came from a small town so i was pigeoned holed early on and could never change my position, but in college no one knew me. I found out people liked me. I started to go to parties and drink, I knew a lot of people on campus and made friends easy. I guess i was just intimidated in high school, now i'll talk to anybody adn they you don't like me oh well. |

I was the popular/princess/girl next door |
Yuck Yuck, I hated highschool. I was a Geek and a huge book worm! I spent the last 2 years of highschool on Independant study because I just didn't fit in. |
"Too Cool For School" would have to be my catagory. Living in Southern California at the time, the beach seemed a better place to be or with my boyfriend. Unfortunuately ending up a teenage pregnant high school drop out I grew up quickly, and later returned for my G.E.D. WOW, this thread makes me feel old, LOL! :p |
but do u no something i dont understand? i se it in other schools and places. real popular kids get bad grades cuz they think its cool.well in my school, ur just stupid if you do that, we try to get good grades. i am not talking geeks, but we just get good grades and we are proud of that. the popular kids are straight A and B and other people who are trying to be cool or what they think is cool get C's and D's. i dont get how in some other schools popular kids think its cool to get bad grades.. odd verry odd |
Goth still am kind of am 26 black is still my fav color still listen to Type O negative...the crow is still one of my favorite movies...its not a trend its a lifestyle. and i will not be associated with these "SO CALLED GOTH KIDS" now days they look like little tramps i consider them more punk than anything. |
i was the popular, :D trend setter in high school and the ones the girls sucked up to because they wanted to date my brother! i went to school in the island of guam and so we were the only puerto ricans there so all the girls were going crazy over my brothers. |
I was a geeky loner that skipped school a lot because it was boring... :) I don't think I'm much different now. :p |
I was girl next door/loner/too cool for school....when I actually went to school. I used to cut with MikeM. We would go to the Esprit outlet or Tower Records when they were starting to have CDs then. One time we cut school and were driving on the freeway, and I looked next to me. In the next lane was my aunt. I felt like Ferris Beuller. |
Wow...FastEddie & I sound like we had similar childhoods. |
I was "Girl Next Door" and popular but maily cause all they girls wanted to date my brother. I remeber I was know as "Edwin's Sister" :lol tears |
I was popular, very brainy straight A's all my life, I was a comedian, voted queen of my senior class. |
Well...I was a weird assortment. I was popular...I went to a small school so either you were cool or you weren't. There was no inbetween. I was not very fond of school, though I found it very easy. I also did a lot of sports, cheerleading, volleyball, and track. I was a mild Partier and I had my "Circle of Friends"....we were known as the "mean girls" but it was fun. One time my Junior year myself and three friends were taken into the Vice principals office because this girl whom I did not like told a teacher she was afraid to go to prom because she thought we were going to jump her (serisouly, like we would even notice her at OUR prom) anyways we told him that she was nuts and he told us " You girls are like a pack of wolves...even I am scared of you!" lol...that just made me laugh. |
I was voted class clown. |
oops I forgot I was also voted "Most Changed" and "Least Organized" my senior year. |
I either fall into several of those categories or mine just isnt listed yet, I cant decide. I need more choices because none of those categories speaks to me. Ohhh I know!!!! I was one of those "artsy weirdos". My senior year, 4 out of 5 of my classes were art-type classes so I pretty much wore pajamas and flip flops. It was practical for me because I was dealing with pain/plaster/metal/charcoal all day. The "popular look" at the time was the messy look. It was funny because I would spend 30 minutes fixing my hair so that it looked like "bed head". We were so weird :p I was also sorta a science nerd but I had lots of friends too so i was pretty popular. It was fun. I miss it  |
I have to admit that I thought I was to cool for school. How wrong I was lol. When I showed up in schoo,l I spent most of my time socializing. Now I am 38 and in college getting my Masters degree. Who would have ever thought. The highschool dropout. :) Jack and Mandy's Mom :aimeeyork |

These are sooo fun to read!! I can't believe how wrong I was about some of you guys. Most of us are so not who we were in high school. And you're right, Shana, how could I forget the Artsy bunch. I should also have included Drama!!! And what about student government, Chess club, Science club, etc. Shana, you wore PJ's and flip flops to school? That's awesome! I always envied those who went their own way. I was never that cool, lol!! Schatzie's mama, you are such a sweetheart! I would have never thought you had a rebellious bone in your body! OK, here's a shocker for ya! I split my time between the semi-popular bunch and the freaks in high school. Yep, partyed hard in high school and college. I had a ball, made good grades (top 10 in my class), and dated a notorious drugger! My best friend and I and our dates got kicked out of our Prom junior year for sneaking in alcohol. Thank God I never landed in any serious trouble. How bizarre is that?? I attended a big party school in college, and participated wholeheartedly. I was a sorority girl and proud of it! But at the same time was able to graduate Cum Laude with a degree in Accounting and landed a job with one of the 'Big Eight' CPA firms in the US. Juggling the two sides of me was quite an accomplishment, lol! The funny thing is, I'm really not that person anymore. A couple years after college I got married, got over myself, got saved and did a 180!! I'm not preaching, that's just the way it was for me. And I've never looked back. Yep, it was fun for a season. Always is. But I don't miss that person. I like this 'me' a whole lot better. Stay at home mom, committed Christian, YT addict! There's lots of ways to have fun!!! Thanks for sharing your stories everyone. I hope others will too. |
I was sorta a brainiac i guess. I graduated (3months ago) 4th in my class of lik 370 people. Stupid A-!!! My fiends and i didnt reallyu have a label. we were just there. We hung out and did normal stuff. My friends got a's and b's. None of us did sports, drugs, or anything. I hung out with the "brianiacs" in my classes, becasue we all took the same classes. I was also a book worm! i love my books. |
And you know what as good as i did in school i didn't get me ANYWHERE! I did't any grants, scholarships from my college, nothing. I got a local scholarship from a fundraiser, But that was luck! All that time i worked my but off and they only people that get scholarships are the athletes!!! Don't get me wrong, i don't have anything agaist them, actually i am happy for them, they work hard in practice. they desearve it. But people who work to be smart don't get crap! It is so frustrating! |
I hated highschool. It was only 2 years ago for me but it was definetly not my thing! People were just way to petty and concerned with stupid things lol. My best friend was one of the "popular" girls, but I just did the 'few close friends' thing. I couldn't be bothered with the people that thought they were God lol. I like University so much better. For the most part, the people are nice and there isnt the little "groups" or "cliques" like there was in highscool. Im definetly glad I'm outta there lol, and I can't wait to see what everyone from h.s. turns out to be like in 20 years! |
