I'm so, so sorry. Prayers that the Dr.'s will find something else is triggering the attacks and not Maddie. This is just so not fair.

I was talking to Denises daughter, Lauryn and the good news is, Maddie is just next door, so they do get to visit her offten.

I was thinking... could it be the shampoo or conditioner? Did they switch foods. Somthing has to have changed I would think.

omg I am just now reading this...
Denise.. I am soo soo sorry. my heart is breaking.
I'm glad you'll get to see Maddie whenever you like.. but I know it's still not the same.

I will continue praying that maybe it isn't Maddie but something else.

Denise, you and your family are always in my prayers.

I know when people think of SHOTS, they think of PAIN but I'm here to tell you that I would choose allergy shots (and even choose to have my kids get allergy shots) over having to lose the family pet. I know you have to choose your daughter's health over your love for "a dog" but I just wanted to tell you...... give the allergy shots a chance. It's very possible that once she builds up her immunity with the shots, she'll be able to tolerate having Maddie around her again. And maybe I missed something in the original story but are you sure it's not something Maddie is getting into? Like grass or pollen? Maybe you already answered that before but I was just wondering. Hopefully these friends of yours will agree that they are Maddie's temporary foster parents and that some day you can get her back. Best of luck!

What?? I must have missed the original story?? But what happened? Did this all start all of the sudden? Were their these allergies before when Maddie was in the house? I'm just sooo out of the loop....sorry!
Poor Maddie, poor Denise...poor everyone in the house....what sad news.
Yes, thankfully she will be just next door, but poor Maddie!!

It would tear my heart out to give up one of my dogs and I'm feeling so bad for you. Big warm hugs to you.
I don't fully understand all this now, but I'm taking it that a child is allergic to a Yorkie??

Well I have a 12 yr old daughter (D'Artagnan) that is allergic to everything...Every tree out there, every grass out there, every mold, every bit of dust, coconut, cats and dogs... We had her tested at 13 months old.

She's been on allergy shots since she was 13 months old...We have 5 Yorkies and they do not bother her 1 bit. So I have to wonder too if it isn't maybe the pollen getting on their coats and bringing it back into the house...U know it could be...I can't hang laundry out due to this for my daughter...Maybe she could try wiping her Yorkie down with a wet washcloth when she comes back in from outside to try to remove the pollens?? Or maybe a shampoo she's used or ??? The reason I say this is because my daughter when she was a baby loved sweet potoatos baby food, little did I know they was full of mold...So here I was feeding her what she was allergic to without knowing it.

My daughter has been off her shots since Oct...I took her off them for they told me it would take 3 to 5 years for her wall to get built up and she's been well over that 5 years, so far she is doing great...She is on allergia 1 tablet twice a day, flovent, flonase and singulair...So these I feel help keep her in place...

We've had our Yorkies going on 4 years now...2 cottony coats, 3 silk coated ones...If I can be of help please holler...I've been dealing with all these allergies for years with her and there's so much I have to do in my house just to help her...It is a daily job of keeping her from having a asthma attack due to her allergies or to keep her from breaking out in hives from something she's come in contact with. Hugs and She is in my prayers Lee

I am sorry, I do hope she is tested for allergies...to find out the true source/allergen.

That's what I am thinking....something has to have changed if it has just started (no problems before).....it is just sad.....I feel for Denise and the girls! It is good that she will be next door though! Anyone hear anything recently?

Oh this is so sad. It broke my heart when Maddie was missing all that time and then for her to come back, it was such a miracle!
I'm wondering the same thing. You would think if it was just Maddie, she would have had this problem before!
I'm glad that they are close and she can see her, but it just doesn't seem fair after all that ordeal they went through!

Hi everyone. sorry i havent been on, its just really hard for me to get on right now. Maddie is next door with Bob and Jane now after repeted out breaks on lexi. we've even tried several times after she has been gone to take Lexi back over and the same thing keeps happening.

I hadn't changed one thing for Maddie, not food, toys, shampoos, meds, treats, nothing. she's had the same stuff 4-ever. Bob and Jane even use different shampoo stuff on her and same thing. I even tried letting Lexi play with Maddie right after a bath and still same thing. Lexi pays outside alot so its not a pollan thing. She has completed the full testing of allergy injections and found she is allergic to dogs, mold, and dust. Those were the only things she came hives too. I've had her around the guys at work dog and she broke out too. I've talked to the doctor and they said at this age her body is changing and it may just be a new allergy that she has developed and may grow out of later in life. Me and lauryn are like this with cats. I did start her on the shots as hard it it was for me and it totally freaks her out. i honestly don't think they hurt, its just a scared kinda thing. right now she goes 3 times a week. when i say we have to go to the doctor she cries all the way there and freaks out bad. i've tried everything and it still freaks her out. Doctor said i still shouldnt have her around dogs even after wards. sHe said she just has a bad reaction and its up to me to keep those to a miniumn. I can tell she dont' have pets.

As hard as the decision was Maddie has really brought joy into the lives of Bob and Jane. She goes and gets yogurt nightly. they are so wonderful to her and thank us everyday. I dont go see maddie everyday cause its hard on me and i think its confusing for her too. She get so excited when I do come. Bob and Jane did say for some reason in the future that Lexi's shots for some reason take care of everything that she is ours at anytime. They had Maddie cut down shorter again, but a full face. She looks really cute and less maintenace for them.

I truely don't understand why all of this is happening and I know its not for me to question. I just try deal with it on a day by day basis. I feel as though my heart has been ripped out and laying numb. I've been so depressed and i'm not a depressive type person. I'm trying to get out of this rut and realize its time to pick myself up, quit feeling sorry for myself, and be thankful for all I have regardless.

I thank each and everyone of you on here and I'm sorry I havent been on. Take care of those adorable babies and hold them close to your heart. Maddie will always be in my heart. At least I know she is ok, and not dead this time. Still....i miss her like crazy and miss when i'm having a bad day, she is not there to hop up on me and snuggle and give me kisses.

Maybe she was put on this earth to help people...maybe she was just my gift for a short time, maybe God has another plan for her than with me, Maybe she's here to help heal lonely hearts, maybe my heart has to heal even though I don't know how to do it.

That right there is exactly what I think Maddie was brought into this world for. She made you guys happy and then lewis and now her new owners. beautiful!
I am so sorry you are hurting right now, just take it one day at a time. You tried everything you could and thats what matters. I hope you start feeling better soon

I'm so sorry your family is having to go through this. It is weird that she just now developed this allergy to dogs but it's not unheard of. Just wanted to tell you from YEARS of experience, no... those allergy shots really don't hurt (until you get to that last maintenance vial which does sting a bit - not gonna lie to you about that). I forget exactly how old your daughter is but I know she's young. I'm sure it's just a scary thing for her and yes, a little traumatizing. It really is for her own good though. My husband and I (starting when we were both about 11 years old) started getting allergy shots and stopped after about 12 years or so. That length of time helped us SO very much with our allergies (I can even be around cats now - but not pet them without thoroughly washing up after - and that was something that kicked my butt terribly before I got shots). She will be grateful for the help in her later years. I know it hurts Mom to see her kid so upset but it really is going to do her a lot of good so hopefully ya'll can hang in there and give the allergist a chance to make it better.
