My Grandson Broke His Leg
 
Please send well wishes for my little Grandson. He broke his leg yesterday and is currently at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia - sixth in line for surgery.

He broke the femur and it's a bad break. They have to put some kind of metal rod in there; otherwise he'd have to go into traction for a considerable amount of time.

I'm thankful for any kind thoughts and prayers offered his way. My other daughter is in the hospital still after having her C-section on Easter Day, so there's a lot going on right now.

Aww, poor guy! Hope he gets better soon. On the positive side, once he returns to school, he'll be the cool kid with the cast. :p

Ouch! Good wishes going out for your grandson. How old is he? How did he break his femur? That is a difficult bone to break....he really must have done a job on himself!

How old is he?
How in the world did he break his femur?
The femur is the thigh bone and is the longest, most voluminous, and strongest bone in the human body..

I hope they can set it right during surgery.

Sending prayers and warm wishes to your Grandson. I broke my femur when I was in my teens and still have a steel rod. Thankfully I have been able to do everything I've ever wanted and so will he :)

oh no he will certinally be in our prayers. hubby broke his when he was a teen along with other breaks in his leg and was in traction for a long time. that bone healed really well " the others didnt" but if it would have been just that bone he would also be living a narmal life without problems:) prayers that his surg and recovery go great for him:thumbup:

He just got out of surgery. It is way worse than they thought as the femur is totally shattered and pieces of bone went into the muscle. They couldn't put a steel rod into the bone inside his leg, so the steel rod is outside of his leg. He will have to be x-rayed every week to see how it is managing and in 3 months they will then cast the leg.

He's 10 and he broke it skateboarding.

I am attaching two pics. One of is his bandaged leg after surgery and the other one is an xray of his leg after surgery.

He is in a lot of pain, but they have him on a morphine drip tonight. He just sleeps. They'll keep him in for a while and then we really don't know what to expect.

I don't think he's going to have a good summer since the next 3 months will be as you see in the first pic, and then a cast for at least 6 weeks. Poor kid.

Poor kid. I feel his pain. I've had many breaks and actually have rods in my legs too. I'm sorry the surgery didn't work out as planned. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Sookie, I'm just now seeing your updates... Oh my goodnes, I feel so bad for him! It looks INCREDIBLY painful...wow...poor child. And not that there's a "great" time for a kid to break a bone, but summer is going to be horrible...:( Ugh, I just feel so bad for him...OUCH....will be praying for quick healing...he is a kid after all!
