| need ur help! Im in a developmental psych class and i was told from my professor to ask people what are some ? they have about children and their development so i thought it would be perfect to ask on here thanks! here are a few examples so far How does being the oldest/youngest sibling in a large family effect the family dynamics and the roles and attitudes the children take on? What is the best environment to raise a child in that does not come from a traditional family (mother and father) which is said to be ideal? What affects does having two mothers, two fathers, or a single parent have on a child? Younger children can learn so much and retain an incredible amount of information. What is it that makes their brains different from adult or even adolescent minds that they are able to do so?

| I was always intrigued by the nature versus nurture question. For example, personality traits run in blood relatives. But an adopted child can also have similar personality traits as the rest of the family. So is it the nature (genes) or the nurture (environment) that helps shape our children? (And then, of course, why can two children raised within the same nature AND nurture turn out so different?) Good Luck with your class!!

| Its been a while since those days, but being the second oldest in a family w/ four kids,,,I didn't have to compete with anybody for attention. My oldest sister was the one who got all the strict rules my younger sister got away with murder and me and my brother spent a lot of time riding our bikes around town with no real curfew. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Hmmm I can not form this into a question but I have an Idea, for an example, I have a child who was born with a medical problem and he was in the hospital a lot his first year of life. I also had my youngest 2 born very premature. My oldest child had no problems and was healthy. When the three that were ill/ premature were in the Early Intervention program, I was told that a parent will parent said child differently then their healthy child. They will "baby" the ill child and the healthy child will resent their sibling and parent to some point. Since I was made aware of this very early on, We have tried real hard not to parent our four boy's differently, they all have the same rules and consequences for misbehavior depending on their age and development stages, like if one kid hit's their brother they have a privilege taken away and have to spend time in time out or they right an apology letter to their sibling that they hurt. But what if I did parent my medically ill child differently, how would this effect the family environment or the child's behavior( the one getting the special attention and the one not?)

| I am the oldest of 3 kids. My sister (middle child) was born with mental problems. basically some of the stuff inside her brain is missing. It was hard growing up with her as my dad treated her special saying "you have to watch out fir her as she is not well. Mind you she is highly functional, graduated high school and can take of herself for the most part. She was in and out of the hospital every year for most if her young life which made others say the poor thing. What my brother and I saw was someone who got most of the attention. It was hardest for me as I had been an only child for 7 years. I am now looked to for helping mom and dad more with things and with my sister. I think it helped me mature quicker.
