Jakub and I were supposed to share a room with Missy... but since she may be having puppies around that time she won't be going...

My room is reserved.. and it'll be Jakub, Myself, Kayah and Evie..

I think we could also be posting more threads about it, or mentioning it to newer members. A lot of people have joined since we had the signup, and there are so many YT members, I'm sure there are many that have no idea about the meetup!

I've tried to post other threads & even a poll - so many people just come on & say they aren't going. I'm tired of hearing the negative comments about it being in KC - some people really seem to be negative about that. But I know (from reading really old threads) that yrs ago, when a meetup was first being discussed, a midwest location won out because it was more central for those who had to travel.

I don't know if it's just the price of gas & everything else, including airline tix prices or that people don't like to drive long distances. I know I heard the other day that the price of a gallon of gas has gone up by $1.50 in the last 18 mths :(

I'm so excited to meet everyone! But I had envisioned a bigger turnout.

I know, they are expecting gas to be $4/gallon or higher by the summer. But myself, Michele (MyFairLacy) and Gayla (Layla's Mom) are driving there. We may spend half our money on gas, :eek: but we will be there.

It just dropped by 10-cents here over the weekend. Maybe the gov't will do the tax free holiday that is being batted around for the summer mths or a particular week.

I just drove to & from Nashville (20 hrs total in the car) - seems gas was more expensive the farther south I got - $3.59 in Nashville, but it's $3.33 here - we have one of the lowest prices in the country for some reason. Hopefully, you all can find decent prices - plus splitting it 3 ways should help for you all.

Can't you talk Vicki into coming?? I would love to meet her!

I'm glad you made a new thread. Now if we all just keep bumping it up, more people will notice. I think sometimes people won't read the threads that have seventy-some pages. :rolleyes: I guess you can tell we have all been very excited for a long time with that many posts!

yes, I think the long threads can be intimidating -- I even feel that way if i've been off YT for a few days :rolleyes: -- but I hate to admit the hrs I've spent reading some other really long ones:cool:

Hope someone bumps the thread up tonight, because I know it has gotten buried past page 1 in the general section today.

Maybe some of us should be telling newbies about it when we welcome them to YT -- I know I have told a couple people who live in the Midwest

i am one of them that was Misty's roommate that has dropped. At first it was a burden/selfish/irresponsible feeling that made me reconsider, needing to pay a credit card instead of charging on it, wanting to allow my boys to do something this summer instead of myself etc...
NOW.... it is a necessity to drop. My husbands truck is breaking down so we are needing to get him a vehicle. THEN... tag & tax on top of that.... soooo... bye bye meetup. Necessity comes first in my book though... sorry

I'm so sorry you are having to drop out, I was so looking forward to meeting you and your two babies. But I completely understand, things happen that you have no control over.

I too am saddened to see people dropping out. It is to a point that Lisa is taking a loss. She really has worked so hard on this and I hate seeing her have to pay even more. I understand that "things/life" happens... but we do need to figure out how we can prevent this from being a disasterous financial loss for Lisa, who has organized this out of the goodness of her heart.

I completely understand what you are saying... but I cannot allow my "things/life" to take an even worse hit as well. Life is what it is & I cant help it. My opinion in the loss Lisa is having is that, this is a YORKIETALK meetup, Yorkietalk should fit some of the bill instead of allowing one of its members take the beating. JMO & we are all intitled to that, last I checked anyway

I had no idea this was happening or could happen if enough people don't show up!! :(:eek: How many people do we have to have so Lisa doesn't incur any cost?

Me too :( I hope no one else drops out. I know life changes sometimes, and if I had some major financial crisis all of a sudden I guess I wouldn\'t be able to go either...but when I signed up I made a commitment to be there and have had money saved just for the trip since I registered. I just don\'t like seeing people dropping out at the last minute. I hope more people will sign up and no one else will drop out. I know we\'ll have a great time with the people that will be there, but I\'d love for more to be there. I just want this to be the big event we had all planned for it to be!
