Maybe you can get admin to have a private thread only open to people whom have registered. Then you can post details that shouldn't be made public for our dogs safety. I am not sure if they will do it, but it may be worth a try.

My main concern is that we don't have any "bad guys" sneaking in since all the details of our meet-up are public. The name tags will indicate that you've paid your registration and are "one of us" :D . I'm going to have those name tags at the meet-up on Friday since most of us are attending that. The location for that meet-up is Loose Park, and people can either drive there, or the hotel shuttle will be taking each of us and our babies there as well. Each time another shuttle-full arrives, I'll pass out the name tags to the newcomers. The TIME for the meet-up is still to be determined.

Then, for anybody who cannot attend the meet-up on Friday, I will have their name tag waiting for them during the continental breakfast on Saturday. Even those who aren't staying at the hotel still have to pay the registration fee, which covers breakfast, the meeting room for speakers, etc., so they will still be able to eat breakfast with everyone else. The only exception to this is if someone is a vendor only and will NOT be attending breakfast, speakers, or anything else, and they will have a different name tag, indicating that they are vendor only. This seemed like the easiest way for us to not have to "police" the food table to make sure there is enough food for those who did pay. I'm sure none of us want to be the "bad guy" asking people to drop the croissant because they didn't pay for it  ;) , but we don't want there to NOT be enough food for those who did pay either. That's why the registration fee is a flat price, as opposed to having different prices for those who do or do not want breakfast.

but how would they open a thread JUST for the registered members??
It doesn't seem likely... I may be wrong.. but I just don't "get" how that would work:confused:

Katys mom 03-13-2008 04:36 AM

Admin can give permission to the thread once it has been verified that they have paid. I do that with my forum for my HOA, the board members have a special thread.

I imagine it to be only for details, not for the general information.

mistyinca 03-13-2008 05:39 AM

Well the whole thread could be moved to the other forum.

Hmmm...that's an interesting idea I haven't thought about. You're right, we wouldn't want the whole thread there, as we're still hoping to catch more people's attention as this thread gets bumped up, but I think that's a great idea for the details...especially once we decide on a time for the meet-up on the Friday of that weekend. Another option (if Admin won't do as you suggested, since that would require more work for them to go in and grant access to the paid members for this additional forum) would be to send the more specific details in a PM to those who have paid. I will keep that in mind as I post specifics down the road! Thanks for the suggestion!

Well if for some reason there are no rooms left I actually booked 2 rooms and since they said I don't have to cancel until like 24 hours before I figure I will keep both rooms and wait and see if anyone needs one later ;)

I will be calling today and try to book my room.

I will be driving from southern Louisiana. If anyone is on my route and would like to ride, please PM me. I would love the company and I have the room, since it will be just me and Parker.

tmatherly 03-22-2008 12:14 PM

I just made my hotel reservations!!

I spoke with a very nice lady who wants a Yorkie now:D

She said, "I would like a little dog, but I just don't want to deal with all the shedding"....and I said, "well, did you know Yorkies don't shed that much because they don't have an undercoat. They shed about as much as humans".
She said she couldn't wait to see all our babies and is going to check YT out!

LOL...another Yorkie-phile is born every moment. You should get recruiter points to redeem for a free toaster or something :p :D :)

Shelby&Seymour 03-23-2008 03:50 AM

WOW..... looks like about 12 more weeks!!

The time is really flying by!!! I will have to start a trip list soon!! Is the weather in Kansas WARM or HOT in June? I think I will have to find some good walking shoes to wear....... if it is pretty weather, I will defintely want to do some shopping!!

Shelby&Seymour 03-23-2008 04:18 AM

Itinerary?

I know that the YT'ers planning this meetup are really busy!!! Thank-you to all that are working so diligently!!!
I will probabaly be arriving early on Friday and want to do a few things before going to the park. Knowing how much time I will have would be so helpful. ALso, if there is time between breakfast and the meetup on Saturday, I may want to so a little shopping.

I know that all the times haven't been confirmed, but when you decide on them, would an small (undetailed) itinerary be possible? Thanks!

It gets pretty hot in Kansas in June/July. The humidity is high too which makes it feel even hotter. Very few buildings don't have AC any more. Make sure you and your fur children drink plenty of water. Also don't forget your sunscreen unless you already have a good tan. I have seen people burn even sitting under a tree all afternoon.

Sherryabear 03-23-2008 07:01 AM

I made my room reservations and sent in my registration fee. Can't wait to meet everyone.......

Sukoshi's Mom 03-23-2008 10:48 AM

HAPPY EASTER everyone! :happyboun :happyboun

I just want to post a friendly reminder that the registration price will be going UP again beginning April 16th, so everyone who is planning on attending but hasn't paid their registration fee yet may want to consider paying it by midnight PST on April 15th!!! The fee with dinner will be going from $80 to $90 per person, and the fee withOUT dinner will be going from $40 to $50 per person.

Also, remember that you're only guaranteed a goody bag if you register by April 15th! My original post back on 12/1/07 stated, "This registration fee is per person attending the event and includes continental breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday morning and meeting space on Saturday. For those who are attending the dinner (i.e. paying the higher registration fee), your fee will also include a goodie bag (if paid by April 15th) to take home with you and one raffle ticket." This is because we don't want to have to keep asking those so generous to donate for more donations down the road as people continue to register, so we're not trying to be mean, but if you register after April 15th, you will not be guaranteed a goody bag unless we have over-estimated and have a few to spare. In such event, the goody bags will be distributed in the order registration was received after April 15th until we run out :( . We are going to have lots of great stuff in these goody bags, so I HIGHLY recommend guaranteeing one for yourself  by registering by April 15th.

If you want to register via PayPal, send your payment through PayPal to yorkietalkmeetup@yahoo.com. Be sure to include your YT user ID and e-mail address I can contact you at (if different than your PayPal address), and I will reply with additional questions I need answered for the registration spreadsheet.

If you want to register via check or money order, send an e-mail to yorkietalkmeetup@yahoo.com, and state that you wish to register via check or money order. I will reply to your e-mail with the address to mail your payment to, and I will consider you registered as of the date I receive your e-mail, pending that I receive your payment within a week or so afterwards.

Let me know if you have any questions, and keep those registrations coming  !!!!

Does this mean that if you are taking a guest with a paid registration (being hubby or friend) they will also be included on the "goody" bags and raffle ticket with their registration since it is "per person"?

Tricia Hartley 03-24-2008 06:05 AM

sounds like such fun. Wish I could go. It is too far away for me this time.

Perhaps next year you will consider Charleston, SC?

I wish that I could really use Yorkie Talk better. This is a terribly difficult site to use. I cannot figure out how to post, chat or anything. I did manage to view my messages--not many, I"m afraid.

My beloved Yorkie, Casey, died at age 17 this past August. A few months later, I obtained another senior Yorkie (Age 10) from United Yorkie Rescue (Florida branch). His name is Daley, and he was found struggling in a pond in a Florida subdivision. He was pulled from the pond; signs were posted; but no one claimed him so the rescuers sent him, along with a generous donation for eye surgery (he was completely blind) to UYR, where I found him.

He was able to have surgery on one eye so he can see out of one eye now. He is nearly deaf, too; but he is a pistol!

He has twice "notified" me when my other dog, Cosmo (Min. Scnauzer-Westie mix) was in trouble--once Cosmo's collar became caught in rug; another time he had a loquat seed stuck in his foot and was limping. Daley yaps and yaps, running from me to Cosmo until I find and fix the problem.

Daley was at first very stand-offish, winced if I leaned over him, and not very loveable. Now he follows me if I leave the room, snuggles by me at night, adores the lady who checks on him midday. And he now no longer winces when I bend to pet him!

I had problems getting him to eat when I first got him and was afraid that I would have to report to Yorkie Rescue that I had starved him to death. After several e-mails back and forth to his UYR foster mom, problem was solved: Daley only eats if Publix (he's a Florida dog!) grated sharp cheddar is sprinkled on top of his food. (Please don't tell me that's bad for him! He's happy and so am I!)

Sorry to blather on so, but I was determined to use Yorkie Talk somehow!

Again, consider the most beautiful city in the US: LowCountry oaks and moss, beaches, plantations, best food on earth (most elegant restaurants to Soul Food and best seafood ever!), elegant and beautiful homes in downtown Charleston, carriage rides, fabulous Aquarium, museum--you name it; we have it! (I am a volunteer House Guide for Middleton Place, oldest landscaped gardens still in existence in US)!

Well...just to answer for anyone else who may be wondering about this...YES...the goody bags and 1 free raffle ticket is per person with their paid registration. So those of you who are bringing guests - your guests also get to take home a free goody bag (as long as each person is registered by April 15th)!!!

Tricia Hartley:

Hi Tricia,
I love Charleston! Thank you for sharing your story, it sounds like you belong here on YT :) You may want to copy and paste your above post in the "General Section" here on YT so everyone can give you a proper welcome! If you need help with posting please let me know and I will be happy to help you as I'm sure our other members will be also. I know the site was daunting to me also when I first started! Warm regards, Kathy

Tricia Hartley 03-24-2008 07:03 AM

I did post it somewhere!

Thanks for your reply! I did post it somewhere--General Discussion? If that's not where I should have put it, could you copy and paste for me?

I am going to try to use this more and more so I will eventually figure out HOW to use Yorkie Talk!

Your Yorkies are presious. I think Daley is pretty cute, too. I shall have to figure out how to post a picture of him!

Thanks again!
