I am guilty of reading and not always posting too, but I'm on dial-up and its sooo slow, that sometimes I don't think my post is worth the wait. When internet is working faster I do post more. See - my post count is coming up:D "so much to read and so little time to post" |

It is really hard to keep up with all the threads, because of the time difference when I log in in the morning there are literally thousands of new posts, of course I only have time to read a few so most go unnoticed to me. This is especially true in the general section as there are so many threads going at the same time in there. Sometimes I read but don't feel that I can contribute any useful advise/information so I don't post, but if they are important I will bump them in hope that someone else knows what to say. |
Good thread. I know I felt that way for a long time on this and other forums. I always feel guilty for not replying to everybody who replies to my threads. I hope nobody feels like I'm snubbing you. I love everybody's comments and find myself laughing hard, but it seems like overkill to try to acknowledge every one of them. |
Ok I have another Bug I guess you could say........... There are a few Members Threads that Always Get a Huge response. Some have been here for a long time and others not. Why is that??? I mean some one else could have posted the same type of ? or information the day before. And they get 3 or 4 to respond and then the other person posts and it is the hot topic for a week or more????? I actually stopped posting in some threads because I choose to get email notification and Really don't want to get all the replies back in my email. |

I wouldn't call it a clique, but I can see how some would interpret it that way. I know I used to feel that way when I joined. But there are thousands and thousands of members here, and you have to be selective in some way. If I see a thread saying "I need to vent!" I'm more likely to reply if it's someone I have some history with. Because I might understand more about why they're venting. And they likely have commiserated with me before too. I try to reply to all threads with few replies and threads I can relate to, but time stops me from replying to more. |

LOL, I know I felt completely lost when I first joined. Everyone was changing their avatar to your avatar (it was you, right?) and I had no idea what the joke was. It was also hard to learn who anyone was with everyone having the same avater. This forum is like anything I guess- you have to hang around, get to know people and then jump in on the fun. BTW, if you don't quote this and respond I am so going to feel snubbed!:p |

Since everyone else is griping I might as well....It bugs me when people post in a thread and then I'll ask a ? or make a direct comment and the person leaves the thread and doesn't even return to address it ...talk about being ignored... I might as well keep going.....It also bugs me when a thread is several pages long and a poster will come in and just jump from the opening op's concern right to the last page not reading anything in the middle so their post is inappropriate or way off track....I'm done now.... |

Sometimes threads take such a turn and if you don't know what's going on you can post something completely inappropriate like congrats on your puppy, would love to see more pics! and the puppy has died. That actually happened. At best the post will just be repeating what has already been said a million times. |

I totally agree.. I have been a member here for about a year and a half... sometimes I feel like since I dont have 5,000 posts I am not as important! That doesnt mean I am not on here as much, I just think I like to read more and post less! I know exactly what you are saying! I feel ignored all the time! :) :) I think the important thing to remember is that we all love our babies on here so much! Thats what brings us all together! ;) |

OK now, let's just try this not-being-invisible thing out: One bee in my bonnet is the use of people's names. Or, the lack thereof, I should say. I've been a member here, what - two years? And, I do try to be involved as a contributing member with what little I can (making avatars, a YT memorial page) and only two people actually address me by my name. Now, I can see using usernames when we don't know people, or it's not in their siggie...but, those of us who have our real name in our sig line obviously are fine with it being used. Seeing your name, especially when one has almost 2,000 posts makes one feel more like a member of the community, as opposed to - Reply to: username(fill in the blank). When replying to posts, I try to take the extra second or two to see if the poster has their name in their sig line, and address them thusly - making it more personal. I've felt strongly enough about this that I've regretted my registration choice and have been thinking about closing this account and opening an account as 'ada & abigail'. If I'd known what super people are here, and that I'd be sticking around, I'd probably have registered that way in the first place. But...hindsight is always clearer than the road ahead. So, anyway....I propose that one way to help the forum feel more like a community is to address people by their names, when we know they don't mind. And, just for the 'official' record: All y'all (that's inclusive of everyone) have permission to call me ada!:p |
