The couch cushion on top was there to try to prevent her from climbing out. She ended up needing help to get down. Who knows how long she was up there, we came home to find her like this (the door was closed before). :eek: She happily stayed in her pen without climbing out for over a year before she started doing this.

Scary but you gotta love these determined little souls. But once she made it up on the top, thank goodness she didn't try to jump down. I'd give anything to see a video of her maneuvering to wind up there!

Do you leave interactive toys or anything in there with her to play with?

I have an expen like that one you have and my little houdini is probably the first to break into jail and not out.

I was having some people over and I didn't want to risk her getting outside as people would be coming in and out so I put her in the expen in my bedroom. Well little Miss Thang decided she want to come downstairs and so she she did. She jumped over the top and came downstairs. I saw her just as she was going back upstairs. When I got upstairs to check on her, she had jumped back in her expen (either that or she closed the door behind her). I had to close the bedroom door. :p

Unfortunately, she can destroy and eat almost any toy (including Kongs). So it's not really safe to leave her unsupervised with toys. I ended up getting a different pen with jail style bars that she can't climb.

I think was happened is once she got up there, the top sagged from her weight and she couldn't climb up to the edge to jump off.

It's this AmazonAmazon But it doesn't work very well. It has gaps she could squeeze through once she climbed up the sides.
