Is the Nikon better?

I know someone said that the Nikon doesn't have 8.1 mp which is true. The one I want is 6.1 mp but it gets the job done. My brother's best friend bought it and it's freakin awesome. I'm not trying to be biased , because my good friend has the $1500 Canon Rebel, and to me it's the same, maybe just a hint clearer if anything.

I think the Nikon is GREAT for the price, but if you want to spend the money and have it, the Rebel is awesome too, i think it's really preference.

recently i've been taking pictures of cars and stuff like that, so its really good to have a high res camera..

Cameras can be addicting. We went to Africa twice. First time I borrowed a Minolta and read the directions on the plae. By the second trip, I had been edumacated!! So, we have 4 35mm Canons and a bag full of lenses. So, when I decided I wanted a point-and-shoot, well it was a Canon. The second point and shoot..also a Canon. Dear lord, we now have all those 35 mm digital Canons so we can use all of our lenses. What do I use..the second point and shoot. Who has space in their purse to stuff a camera and lenses in there..
Those pics are very good!! The fancy-schmancy ones are not necessarily better, but my husband will not be convinced. I mean, they are just more gadgets..LOL
