| wearing a collar my Yorkie (Brodie) hates his collar does anyone have any suggestions? He makes such a fuss and cries over it and I give in and take it off. He is an inside dog he uses pee pads but I still think he should wear a collar for ID purposes. |

| You might want to post this in the General Discussion forum, too, so you can get more answers. But to go ahead and answer your question, Sophie has a harness that she goes on walks with and she does wear a collar for ID purposes and it is only for when she goes out or if we are at someone else's home for a while and I'm afraid she might run out the door. She stays nekkie when she's inside unless I just have a t-shirt or pjs on her. She doesn't mind the collar I have since it is light weight. I have her ID tag and rabies tag on there and she hardly notices. You might try a lighter collar that doesn't bother your baby so much if you think that could be the problem. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Hello, The only time I use a collar is when I take Pebbles, my baby out in the car. She never wears a collar in the house. I know I wouldn't want a hard collar around my neck 24/7. I also like to use a harness when we do go for walks. Don't like anything around a little dogs neck. I also have 2 German Shepherds, and I don't use collars on them unless they go out in the public.

| welcome to YT. One thing you have to be careful of with having a collar on, it can get stuck on something. There have been posts where either the dog got his collar caught on something or somehow the dog managed to get the collar stuck in their mouths. We only use the collars when we are out in a big setting.

| Lucy was really bothered by her collar at first, too. I would put it on her for a while and then take it off.... and then on and off... and she is totally used to it now. Both my Yorkies are 100% inside dogs, but I always keep collars on them. They have ID god forbid they ever ran out and I also just think they look cute If you keep it on him I am SURE he will eventually get used to.... just like clothes or bows or other things we like to dress our babies up with! |

| BTW- Susan Lanci makes hand-made really really really SOFT and light weight collars. THey are a little bit pricey, but I just ordered one for Lucy and it is soooo nice! Very cute and amazing quality. They sell them at some boutiques I have been to, but I bought mine on Sassypup.com. You can also check ebay. That may be a good route to try because it literally weighs nothing. |
