Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Breeder To Be Sentenced This Friday Bauck To Be Sentenced This Friday Kathy Jo Bauck is a dog breeder located in New York Mills, Minnesota. Bauck has operated her kennel, known as Pick Of The Litter (now owned by her husband and daughter) and Puppys on Wheels, for over 20 years. At one time, per USDA inspection reports, Bauck was operating with over 1,300 dogs/puppies in her kennel and 32 different breeds. Due to an undercover investigation conducted by Companion Animal Protection Society, Bauck was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty and torture. On March 24, 2009, a jury found Kathy Jo Bauck guilty on four misdemeanors (three counts of torture, one count animal cruelty). Information about this breeder, the trial and investigation (including news articles and the undercover investigation video) is posted on the Animal Folks MN website. Go to News: Bauck. Time and place Bauck's sentencing is scheduled for this Friday, April 24, at 3pm at the Otter Tail County Courthouse. Court dates are subject to change. If you plan on attending, please call the Otter Tail County Court Administration at 218-998-8429 to confirm day and time. Also, please be aware: As with all sentencing, the judge may choose to rule from the bench (give the sentence at that day and time) or postpone the sentencing for a later date. Letters to the Judge Letters can be sent to the judge requesting that a strong sentence be imposed. If you haven't already sent a letter, the address is below. Honorable Judge Waldemar Senyk 121 West Junius Avenue, Suite 310 Fergus Falls, MN 56537 Fax: 218-998-8414 (a fee of $25 is charged) Email: does not accept emails Case #56-CR08-2271 Please be respectful, brief and professional in your writing, as this will better support animal protection efforts. (Letters received by the prosecution have already been forwarded to the probation officer assigned to this case.)

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Puppy and Kitten Mill Bill: S.F. 7 / H.F. 253 Information about S.F. 7 and H.F. 253 and inhumane dog and cat breeding can be found at the Animal Folks Minnesota website. We have and will continue to add more information, interviews and updates to the site in the coming months. 1. Will the bill numbers (S.F. 7/H.F. 253) remain the same for next year? Yes. Because it is the first year of the two year Minnesota biennial session, bill numbers will remain the same for 2010. Next year, the bill will pick up where it left off in the legislative process. 2. Who opposes the bill and what are they saying? As with any issue, there are people and groups who oppose legislation and regulation. We've added some of these groups and their statements (with factual responses) to the website. Go to Opposition under Legislation. More will be added. 3. Is Animal Folks MN still accepting petitions of support? Yes. Every petition received is grouped by district and submitted to individual legislators. From these petitions, we're able to build support from every district throughout Minnesota. Please encourage your neighbors to sign the petition. 4. Should I still be contacting my legislators? Yes. Please continue to educate legislators about the bill and ask for their support. Get to know your own Senator and Representative by contacting them now or during the interim months (when the Minnesota Legislature is not in session).

| Thanks for posting this thread. I live near Fergus Falls and I will be attending the sentencing on Friday. Yesterday I dropped off a letter to the judge in hopes, that he will give her the maximum punishment. This whole thing is so discouraging, with the felony charges being dropped. I've followed her trial every step of the way, since this is happening in my neighborhood, so to speak. Her kennel is only 30 Minutes from my house and it disgusts me. My own vet tried to get her shut down for over 20 years!!! He had to work on a lot of dogs that were either bred there or received her "expert veterinary" care. If you haven't seen the undercover video, go to YouTube. What is wrong with her? How out of touch with reality do you have to be, to not show the slightest bit of remorse or even acknowledge your wrong doing? Sorry, I better stop right here. I get too worked up about this. I'm sure there will be updates as soon as they become available.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Thanks for trying to help get this woman shut down. I feel she's already got away with way to much and feels she's untouchable by the law. That must make her feel that much more empowered.

| Update I went to the sentencing hearing this past Friday. Due to the length of the hearing and her attorney trying to get her charges dismissed and even requesting a NEW TRIAL , the hearing will be continued this coming Friday, May 1st at 2:30 pm at the Fergus Falls Court House. If you haven't done so already, please, please write a letter to the judge on behalf of all those dogs she tortured. This is a cruel woman who shows zero remorse or acknowledgement for what she has done and is still doing!. In the hearing the judge referred to more than 50 letters he had received and read. More were delivered Thursday and Friday which he hadn't yet read. It was very clear, that the letters and the publics interest in this case had an impact on him. So, here is the address. Honorable Judge Waldemar Senyk 121 West Junius Avenue, Suite 310 Fergus Falls, MN 56537 Fax: 218-998-8414 (a fee of $25 is charged) Email: does not accept emails Case #56-CR08-2271 I will be there again on Friday to see what happens. It is very disheartening to see a guilty verdict slip away based on technicalities and discrepancies in time lines. That is where the trial is heading right now. Keep your fingers crossed. I will give updates when they become available.

To JohnnieWalker -- If we email a letter to you with our full name, address and phone number for verification, could you deliver them to the court in time? I don't think mail would make it from my town to there in time either. Not sure if they would allow it but I will sure write it if you think it would help. Great quote you are using in your signature line! I love it too as you can see! Such a shame there are many dogs there with nothing to ever wag about. I had to make myself watch the videos and I cannot tell you the admittedly unChristian thinking I was having about that woman!

| Please write! JohnnieWalker (previously posted in this thread) graciousy agreed to deliver my letter to the court. I figured my regular mail would not arrive in time, but email is instant! It would be great if she could deliver a PILE of letters from all of the members here on behalf of all of the abused, tortured, and killed dogs! This woman (Kathy Jo Bauck) needs maximum jail time! Maybe then she will get an example of humane confinement, if nothing else. PLEASE WRITE!
