Does anyone know what theses spots are? 1 Attachment(s) This has nothing to do with yorkies but maybe you guys can help me out. My chihuahua is a little over a year old now and as I am grooming her and she is losing her winter coat she has spots on her skin showing up all over. Is this just age spots or do I need to be concerned about it? I have attached a picture so you can see. |
Hey Shana, I was actually wondering about a similar spot on Stewie's "thigh" (inner back leg). I am assuming they are just changes in pigment on the leg... ??? but I haven't worried about his too much and haven't asked my Vet yet. |
ya I also figured it wasnt a big deal. But I swear Tink has like 5 new ones a day. I wonder is she is trying to do the opposite of Michael Jackson, lol :D |
But seriously, does anyone know? I dont want to just dismiss them if they are bad. |
I have had two maltese with spots like that. I always considered them like freckles. |
I love the photo!! Somehow I do not consider it anything serious .. I may be wrong but I know for a fact that Gypsy Rose has one under her chest hair and it is a heart shape!! With our yorkies we don't normally see them but of course a CHihuahua is a bit different! I think it's pigmentation and quite harmless. Still a cute photo though!! Ana xx :aimeeyork |
My nine-year-old Norwegian Elkhound cross has those too--they're harder to see under all that fur! You might want want to ask the vet just in case... :) |
I use to have an apricot poodle that had some like that~ :p They became a bit more noticable too if she sunned outside. Just skin pigmentation... |
This is skin pigmentation . My friend Gina have Chihuahuas that have the same spots and her vet told her to stop worrying about it . |
spots Biewers have those spots...I believe it is called "ticking"..produced by the pie bald gene..ask Whispersmom. |
Yep, YorkieRose is right. The piebald gene that gives the Dalmatian, Doxie and even Piebald horses their spotting patterns produce the spota known as "ticking" on the skin. When they appear they are a normal part of the animals skin coloring, not moles or similar thingies. Some feale Yorkies will get very fine almost black areas on their tummies especially after their first heat. I actually asked my vet to scrub with a brush the tummy while my girl was under anes. for dental. I felt like a bad mommy when I took her in looking like that. I have a very sweet note from the vet in her post op instructions saying I was not a bad mommy because they couldn't scrub them off either. She explained they seem to hormone related and not a problem...Whew!!!!!! |

I went to the vet about this! Hallie has spots on her belly area and I was nervous(b/c I'm paranoid most of the time) so I rushed her in and the vet (he is so nice to me) told me it was just pigmentation and some were freckles. Nothing to worry about and she was fine and it was very normal. |
