Bentley's mom Oh well I was wondering if I had the only defected yorkie boy but I see he is perfectly normal after all..lol he acts so much like a toddler. He even comes to get me at 1:30 for his nap. I have to wrap him in his blanket and hold him until he goes to sleep and a lot of the time thru the entire nap..he is so picky about eating that he has too be spoon fed with his baby spoon and only out of his baby bowl and at super time has to sit at the table with ma and pa to eat or will pout until he gets his way..he want eat the same things for breakfast lunch and super it all has to be different and better not be what was for yesterday's meals.it is so bad I have a hard time finding what to give him and when and worry about if he is getting enough nutrition..if any one has any info on how to help with the picky eating I would love it.. I've tried the rice chicken vegetables he will only eat the chicken want touch it if anything else in it..same with the hamburger recipes.he didn't get this way until he got really sick,I still don't know what made him sick .I got laid off of work and couldn't take him to the vet, so an old retired vet friend that was a vet to exotic large animals gave me some antibiotics and helped me narrow it to a possibility of rancid deer that another dog drug up..the antibiotics helped him but he still not his self as far as eating and still not as active his pa says that probably was from lack of nutrition from not eating enough.we have to really keep on him and offering didn't things until we come across something he will eat..and everyone knows that yorkies can't eat just anything..so we find this exhausting and difficult..so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...and by the way Bentley is well mannered well behaved and no problems what so ever as to house broken.he is very smart at all these things..thanks for any help.. |
My husband and I are always saying: "do the puppies think they will grow up into humans?" Dexter is always standing on his back legs, and when we tell him to sit he puts his bottom on the floor but remains vertical with his 'arms' up. Gizmo is always trying to talk to me. They seem to be trying hard to be human. |
they aren't human? lololol |
Cocoa is the same way. I tell people all the time that she is more baby than dog. Now Chloe...she's Ms. Diva! |

Agreed. Fabian lets me hold him like a baby before bedtime as I sing him lullabies. Then he strokes my cheek. He's definitely my little valentine. |
I've been saying it for years, having a yorkie is like having a toddler. Ya just gotta love these lil yorkies. |
My beanie I say that all the time, that she is more human than dog. She is a hybrid, LOL. I SWEAR she tries to talk to me, just like a baby does. Especially in the car, she is really vocal. When she isn't barking at some phantom dog, she is whining for treats and she uses sounds that are so strange. When we wake up, well when SHE decides it is time to wake up, she gives me "lovies", she rolls all over me and again, makes these sounds that are more like a baby than a dog. I tell people all the time that she isn't a dog, but they just laugh at me and say I spoil her. I don't spoil her (well maybe - LOL), I just let her be who she is and that is some kind of dog/human. And I KNOW she understands what I say to her!! |
"...like having a toddler..." Yep, but with intelligence beyond the years of human toddlers...just amazing! All three of my Yorkie kiddos...same as described. We love it! |
We tend to treat our Yorkies as our babies. After being on dog sites on Facebook, I tend to think, all real dog lovers treat their dogs as family members It does appear, yorkie owners and owners of small dogs seem to dress them as dolls or babies. This is just my honest opinion and not meaning to offend anyone that does dress their kids up. I’m a real big guy, I just couldn’t see myself dressing Dexter up in an outfit and having him ride shotgun with me on our trips to the store or bank etc. I’m not doing this https://youtu.be/dYc_2ywYxy0 |

Guess my point is, it's not really a gender thing. Hehe.. I personally don't dress mine up either. It's too much hassle with their long hair and having to walk them multiple times a day. |
They are just like children! I just look at other people walking their dogs effortlessly while I am struggling with all the pulling, barking and jumping of my Otto. At first I thought I was a failing as an owner but now I think all the other dogs are just boring. My Otto thinks he is a human first and a German Shephard second. |
I take my 12 pound kid for monthly allergy shots, my vet has donor cats walking around, Cody HATES cats mostly because one of the vets cats beat the heck out of Codys butt lol, so when he sees one of the cats he goes ballistic, he is always on my lap at the vets, and he's a handful to handle when he sees the cats, now I am in and out lol, Codys insanity sets all the dogs off lol. |
I took Dexter to the vet the other day. I’ve never seen him so well behaved. There was a cat roaming around and six or seven dogs in the office at the time. |
I agree both our yorkies Muffy and Tela act more like humans , they always want to be close to people and have feelings that are unexplainable , they seem to understand and express their emotions in such a way that only close parents can understand . I have not had any other kind of dog so closely attached as yorkies, love them all the way........ |
