| Went to the vet today! The vet said I have a very healthy and spunky 4 pounder. He did amazing with his shots, acted like he didn't even notice there was a needle stuck in his neck. But when they checked him for earmites he started making a huge deal about it. (And we have been practicing so good at home.) The "scabs" I had seen in his ears turned out to be wax and dirt. No earmites!YAY!! They cleaned them all up and taught me how to do it. Checked him bum because of the scooting, and it is just his way of "wiping". (I am glad he finds the carpet to be a good form of toilet paper ) AND-- this is the second vet who told me (in a concerend manner) that he has a dominance issue. And suggested training, which is why we are in puppy training at Petco right now. But it kind of made me wonder what else I can do. Has anyone had a vet (or someone) tell you that your dog has leadership issues? Thanks for reading, I am glad everything went well. It makes me so happy that he is healthy. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That's awesome nothing was wrong with those little ears...On the dominance issues - what made the vet say that ? have you noticed it yourself ? I'm sure ANY training class is an asset to a yorkie so it wouldn't hurt to look into one - but I personally can't help you there - I only know what I read - GOOD LUCK and it sounds like you had a good checkup |

| They do this "temperment test" where they hold him in a way and how long it takes them to relax determines it. (I am not exactly sure what they do). I don't notice there being any problems here at home, except that when he gets his mind set on something he'll try everything in his power to achevie whatever it is he wants. I think that they said Yorkies in general like to "be in charge". |

I think any yorkie that is determined to get something is like that, lol. |

| Hi Meg- My Mickey is 3 months old also and goes for his shots third set of shots this Friday. Did Keeley get sore or sleepy the next day after shots? The breeder gave me the shot records from the first two sets of shots. Do they get Rabies shots at 3 months? About the dominance thing - I had a Vet say the same thing about one of my Westies once and told me to gently turn her on her back and hold her down till she quit trying to get up and relaxed a bit - and then instead of letting her flip over on her own - pick her up and place her on her feet to show you are the dominant one. I do this with Mickey once in a while to remind him who is the boss. Maybe it is a Yorkie thing - but I don't want him to get the idea he's in charge (all the time). I hope we get a good report at the vet on Friday too! |

| About the testing--They have just done it in front of us and then when they are done they tell us what they just did and what they think. (The same vet office, different vets and they same outcome). They don't make it sound like he is mean or anything, but that he wants to be in charge and that we'll be happier and he'll be happier if we learn to set boundries. He got his 3rd vac, heartworm meds, and something called Strongid. No rabies yet. He took a nice looong nap when we got back from the vet. But hasn't acted sore or anything. Now he is back to being his spunky self. |
