Rascal Bear- Well, he is a Rascal through and through and has a Teddy Bear face. Baby Cuddles- She is just a tiny thing.. just under 3 lbs full grown. So as a puppy she was Very tiny. My 11 year old daughter said, "Mommy, she is a Precious gift from God" so she said can we call her Precious and it certainly stuck and she is Precious. |

Eury was named for one of my favorite ancient pre-Greek myths. Eurynome was known as Goddess of All Things by the ancient Arkadians. My husband thought it would be a perfect name for our little princess. Our 3 cats have much simplier names. Sweets was named by my mom for her personality, she's as sweet and even-tempered as can be. Baby was 3 weeks old when I got her, her mother was hit by a car, and very ill. When I rushed her to the vet, the vet needed a name for her file, as she was so little she became, Baby. Tuffy was my husband's cat from before we were married. He said he picked that name simply cause it fit his personality. :) |
I'm Italian, so I thought since we were getting a little dog we should come up with some tough-guy names, so we made a list. The list turned out to be entirely mobster names and then some cute names like Tucker and Charlie. When we picked him up we decided to see how he acted on the first day to see which name fit. About ten minutes into the hour long car ride home he was Vinnie, Vin for short. I got the idea for the name from the movie, My Cousin Vinny, but changed the spelling! :D |
I am a world traveler, so I wanted to have an international family. I am a Spanish teacher and completely bilingual in Spanish and English and can speak some Greek, Japanese, and French. I named my first yorkie Chica Mia, which means "my girl" in Spanish because of my love and passion of Spanish culture and language. I named my second yorkie Yoshi, which means "good" in Japanese. I went to Japan last year and loved it! Yoshi has Asian eyes, so it fit quite nicely! My next yorkie will be Greek, then Italian, then Chinese, then French. :D |
What a fun post. My first was "Duke" or My Duke of York, Because he thought he was a BIG dog. Now I have "Gizmo" or My Gremlin Gizmo, He looked a a Gizmo when I saw his first pics from the breeder. It fits him. but my sons said it should have been Spike the bad gremlin. Then I got "Lacie" When I was holding her at my work, just minutes after the breeder left her, I asked a lady for suggustions on names and she said she was bad at nameing dogs, but turn to ask her granddaugter, Lacy, if she had any. Her full name is Victorian Lacie Pearl. and she is just as delicate as it sounds. |
Jack is named after one of the characters in The Importance of Being Earnest Jack Worthing. The character was found in a purse when he was a baby and was adopted into a wealthy family. He leads a double life, one as a perfect gentleman and one as wild child. This is one of my favorite plays and I just thought the double life thing was fitting for Jack since sometimes he is nice and calm and cuddly and other times he is running laps around the house and climbing all over everything. |
Widget means........ According to Webster.....,GADGET , concern, gimmick, gizmo, jigger, and I added whatchamacallit, doohickey, thingamabob, and most things small, this seemed to suit her perfectly when she was first brought into our home, and it STILL suits her at 14months. lol:D When you just can't put a name on something, it's a Widget...... |
Tiki's Name Me and Tiki's Daddy lost our baby Keeli 1 year old yorkie while living in Florida and when we moved back to KY I wanted a name that representing something to do with Fl in memory of our Angel so we went with Tiki ......a tropical name cute it suits her to a T. Great post :) |
Zachary's name.... Zachary's name in Hebrew means "Remember the Lord". I had a list of approximately eight names and when I finally saw him, I knew I wanted to name him Zachary. |

My husband and I are foodies, so we wanted a food related name that would "fit" a yorkie. After much deliberating, we came up with "Kiwi" after the kiwi-fruit. It was perfect because it was cute, but also descriptive. A kiwi-fruit is brown on the outside with lots of little "hairs" just like a yorkie. It is also an easy name for her to understand. We actually haven't picked her registered name yet. She is going to be on a limited registration, so we have to get proof of her spay before we can turn in the papers. We're still deliberating on that one! |
We went round and round on naming both of our furgirls. We came up with Emma in the car on the way home from picking her up. I wanted to name her something with "Emerald" in it, because I was born in May, and that's my birthstone. We thought about "Lily" because the flower for May is the Lily of the Valley, but my husband thought that was cheesy. We also wanted something that sounded royal because we knew this little dog was going to be spoiled, so we came up with "Suzy's Emerald Princess", or Emma! We then decided to get our second yorkie, and liked a few different names-Dori, Milli, Hannah, Pearl...but wanted it to fit with the theme. We decided Hannah was a good person name, but not the best for a dog, and it sounded too much like Emma. So, we started narrowing it down from there, by trying to think of what her AKC name would be. After we saw her, we decided to name her "Suzy's Million Dollar Sapphire" (Milli) since it went with Emma's name well, and Sapphire is my husband's and my mom's birthstone. Sometimes I think we should have named her Suzy's Million Dollar HEADACHE :p and I tell Milli that too! |
Well, I know mine will sound a little out there... But, I decided to name her "Meka" (mee-ka) after my husband and I's favorite porn star! We call her "Me Me" for short and I added on Brown - cause it started to remind me of an old 70's movie (i.e. Cleopatra Jones or Foxy Brown)... She's definately spunky and full of spice, with lots of love and divatude. Which is why one of her nicknames is MEKA THE DIVA. Its a name that demands attention! :animal36 |

This is such a fun thread ! Penelope .... was the name I had picked out for my very first Yorkie many years ago when I was young and it took me all my life to find her. Tobias .....was named by his breeders children. We originally thought we were going to call him Henry, but when we got him home he was such a Tobias! Roxy ... because she is such a Roxy. I picture the name Roxy as spunky, fun and intrepid and Roxy is all of that... and so much more. Tulsa.... she came to us from the city of Tulsa and it just suited her so well. Miss Lily.... Lily is sweet, loving and kind and this name just suited her to a T. |
