I Need My Bed Back I hate to post this because it makes me so very sad but I really need to get some good sleep. It's taking a toll on my life so I need to figure out a way to get the monkeys to sleep out of the bed. Every night I sleep with Hallie sharing the pillow next to my head and Simon tangled around my legs (even though I have a queen size bed). Has anyone ever done this? I don't even know how to start. They have a ton of their own beds but have been sleeping with me forever. |
OH Mom, you will miss them when they don't sleep with you girl, try sleeping with 4.... :D |
Oh my, you do have a problem. Have you thought about a sleeping bag on the floor??:D for you, of course, not the dogs. |

Poor Kim - I know what you mean. What about setting up something NEXT to your bed that's brand new and they won't fall off of ? They may just think it's big fun to have their own little place to sleep |

Gesshhh sorry to tell you but I think its too late now:D I tried putting mine to sleep on their bed and once in my sons room....5 minutes later my son knocks on the door and says here mom. I guess I'll just have to wake up with backaches everyday...plus my fiancee is in the bed too. I'm thinking about getting a king size bed because my queen isn't cutting it. Wish you luck! |
Could you try and put one of those body pillows dividing you from them on the bed. My 3 sleep in a row on the other side of the bed. |

When was the last time you slept WITHOUT them? I ask because I always think the same as you...I never get any sleep because it's all about Sadie being comfortable, I can't roll over without waking up, making sure i don't kick her, waking up with backaches, etc. Every now and then my parents want to keep her for a few days and when she's gone, I don't sleep AT ALL. It's like my security blanket is gone. I can't get comfortable & jsut don't sleep. So I just wonder if you'll have the same problem. |
ok here's what you do. 1) get a nice crate for each of them. 2) put lots of blankets in there 3) add a few toys and soccer balls 4) put some food and water in each 5) Slap a label on each that says "Ship To New Jersey" :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
I know what you mean, when I was married we had a king sized bed, BUT, my husband is 6'4'', and we have 4 dogs. They plastered themselves all up and down me. I felt like I was sleeping in an envelope. I didn't have the guts to do anything to change it. Good Luck Kim. I hope everything works out and you start getting some good zzzzzz's. That's funny Kalina!!! very sneaky, you had me really interested!! |
I feel your pain! your backache, neckache.....all associated with sleeping with the babies but I have to tell you, the nights they weren't here I couldn't sleep! lol |
Guess what??? I saw this on tv (I forogt which dog show - but it was a yokie). They put a gate up on the bedroom door, and the dog's bed on the other side of the gate (I think it was a hallway so that it was blocked off). The dogs can see you, but have to sleep in their own beds. The first night, they cried to get in the bedroom. It got less and less every night until the dog eventually slept in their own bed. |

:lol tears well thats not a bad idea either.. |
Sleeping with Sophie One of the most difficult times was when I had to give up sleeping with Sophie because she was sick. Made her a bed in the bathroom so she could pee pee/poo poo at will :( Sweet Charlie does not like to sleep next to me, but shares my bed. However, he prefers his own bed placed on the other side of my queen. Not sure what is worse, lack of sleep or those little muchins snuggling up to be closer. What a comfort to wake up, reach over and touch his sweet self. |
oh Kimberly how sad!!! but i think it is just going to take some tough love. Layla sleeps in a crate. on a table RIGHT next to my bed.. .it is flush to the bed so i think she thinks she is IN the bed.... and i think it is going to be a few nights of crying and barking, but i'm sure you've read it a thousand times... just let em bark it out... so maybe a weekend :p but i cna't say i envy your position.. it must be hard.. i'm sure once you get them used to the crate there will be nights you can have a slumber party and bring them back in! good luck! Tell Simon and Hallie to be a big boy and girl and that mommy still loves them VERY much.. but she needs to get sleep so she can be a happy, not crabby, mommy! let us know how you decide to go about it. hopefully there will be someone on here who has done it and can help more! |

3 Attachment(s) It's fine when Kenny is on night-shift, but when he's not, me, him and three Yorkies give us backache, disturbed sleep a hundred times a night when they get too hot and want in and out of the covers, and Kenny gets too hot as they always hug him as he's the warmest ! Tammy is a head hugger - but never mine - it's always Kenny, hee hee. He says he's hot enough without the dogs making him even hotter ! I can't get close to Kenny anymore either - they get in the way if I try to hug him - I don't think they like not getting the attention ! We have moaned about it a few times, but I couldn't not have them in bed beside me....plus who would wake you up in the morning, licking your eye-lids, nose, inside your ears, and cleaning you at night-time before you go to sleep ! :yelrotflm :animal-pa Debra |

they sleep on top of me no matter the size of the bed... I think I just learned how to sleep "around" them.. d |
I so know what you mean. First there was Bell who basically always slept with us (me and the hubby) Then Bell had Lilly, we kept her and Lilly slept with us too! Then came along Petey, three was trouble for us, so we decided to keep Lilly and Petey in a X-large crate, its is big enough for a shepard. They are comfy and never cried or anything, I'm guessing because they had each other. Well Bell got pregnant again and after the birth she wanted to stay with the puppies and she did. Now all three sleep in the crate and everyone is happy including the hubby and me who are now getting a full nights sleep.;) |

When I was cleaning/organizing my bedroom, there was too much stuff on the floor for Max and Abbie to be out and about in my (their) bedroom. So I used an exercise pen and closed off a section of the bedroom so they couldn't get into anything. Their crates, a big dog bed, and a big chair so that they could look out the window are all in the area. I put them in their area during the day when I was at work and at bedtime for a few weeks. When I allowed them out of the area for bedtime after a few weeks, they actually preferred to be in there rather than on my bed. The first few nights, the started off on my bed but ended up in their area. I miss sleeping with them, though :( |
me and cody sleep on the couch. it all started when we took afternoon naps and he just got use to that. we slept in my bed one night but not very long we ended up back on the couch. i miss my bed. even though its a twin lol. i dont have much room on the couch. and i wake up so sore and stiff. cause you know our babys got to be comfy! |

I know they might get their feelings hurt but could you train them to only sleep at the end of your bed by your feet. I had to do this with my first maltese after my first baby was born, she always slept under the covers by my tummy and she couldn't do that after baby came because we often had him in bed with us during the night. |
Wow. I thought the reason I was getting up in the mornings all humped over in pain & awful leg cramps was because of age.:( Did know even think to blame it on the 5 furbabies in the bed.:lol tears |

I feel for you. We sleep in a double bed with 6 of the dogs in bed with us....we're thinking about a bigger bed after 26 years. |
