| NODAK's Fiancee Well... Hello everyone.. I thought it was about time I made an appearance. I was just reading up on some of the threads that Chris (NODAK) has been a part of. The last response that I read was this message board is for helping, getting advice.. NOT BASHING. You guys have been bashing him since DAY 1 when he was asking questions politely. Now I've read other posts as well on potty training and I know for a fact that there are other people who work jobs and leave their puppy in a crate while they are at work. And cannot come home for lunch or have someone let the puppy out. They even mentioned in the post that the puppy is in the crate for at least 10 hours at a time. And she put the puppy in the crate when she went to bed. That leaves just about the same amount of time that Chris and I have put Tanner in the crate. Mind you, this is not a permanent option and I am wanting to go with the x-pen or even play pen. Once Tanner is housebroken and out of the chewing stage he will have free reign of the house. It's just not a good idea right now, I'm sure Chris posted about the day he left the crate open on accident. (That is why). Anyways.. The reason I'm posting this thread is for you to ask me questions and give me advice because you guys don't want to do it for Chris. |

| If you thoroughly read the posts and threads that "Chris" has written on this site, you would understand why people have reacted the way that they have. It seems as though Chris does not want this puppy (read his first few threads). Now I am new to this site too, and I have asked a number of questions myself...but have received no bashing and have felt nothing but support and kindness. When I replied (and other members) to one of "Chris's" threads, I suggested trying an x-pen...my suggestion was met with nothing but reasons for objection (which is fine b/c it was only meant as a suggestion). My perception of this was that "Chris" was adamant about not improving the situation for this poor puppy. Before you start attacking the "members" of this website, perhaps you should read ALL the threads "Chris" has started before you make a generalization about everyone on here.

| I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here. When I wanted to get a yorkie, my husband didn't, like of like NODAK (Chris) didn't. So, I can definately sympathize with what is going on there. Even though Chris may come off as a little crass, he would not be on this board asking questions if he didn't truly want to do a good job at raising the little guy. And, there HAS been some bashing going on by all parties involved, in my opinion. Maybe everyone could just start over....... |

Tanner gets a lot of loving from the both of us. And I have always wanted a Yorkie since I've been a child, it's been a dream. I've always had Labs. Tanner is not necessarily in the crate for 20 hours a day either. That is on the high end of the spectrum. But I will say that it is definitely hard for the both of us and I hate leaving Tanner in the crate. Trust me. Chris can vouch for me on this. And Chris does love the puppy and want the best for him (we are not rehoming him). Like I've mentioned before we've thrown around the play pen and x-pen idea and we're definitely loving that. Tanner is getting better about leaving his poop on the newspaper. Getting him to stay out of the kitty litter is a different story though. It's disgusting! | |

| im sorry it doesnt seem like he likes the puppy. I work from like 11 to 5 my mom gets off at 3:30 and skoshi gets free reign of the house. at first it was the master bathroom tho. and he never once used it in there. i mean it just seems like he really doesnt like the puppy and doesnt want the responsibilty of having to spend money and take the time out to actually work with the puppy. Maybe you should read chris's previous posts. he says the puppy wont play with him and you try so hard to get him to. But the puppy can probably since that chris doesnt like him. from what it seems like he says hes trying to do this for you because you get sad and not actually for the puppy. |

Someone mentioned the pee pad idea and Chris was concerned how much they cost. Pee pads (or wee wee pads or whatever you wanna call them) will probably work better than newspaper bc they have a scent that attracts the dog to it and makes it wanna pee on the pad. You can get them at Walmart for really cheap and they last for days. They will last as long as you want them to and since yorkies don't eliminate much, they can definately last 3-4 days per pad. What I did was when there was poop on there, I would just pick the poop up and flush it but still use the pad for subsequent uses. And they are seriously SO CHEAP at Walmart! So that would definately be something I would look into if I were you. As far as the crating vs. x-pen. How big is the crate he's in? Is it wire? Plastic? | as far as training the rest of your days outside of work should be nonstop attention on tanner and potty training him. ITS A LOT OF DEDICATION! i promise you that but you just gotta put in effort. |

| Well, not necessarily. I kept Hootie in a crate that was large enough that I could put a pee pad on one side and her bed and food on the other. It served the same purpose as an x-pen because it was bigger. If you don't wanna go with an x-pen, I would go with a larger wire crate that he has room to move around in and room to put a pee pad AWAY from his feeding and sleeping area. |

| I definitely spend every second with Tanner while I am home. I watch him like a hawk and it helps that He never lets me out of his sight, not even for a second. Potty training is going good though, I am not really having too much difficulties. I know it is a ton of work and I'm patient. |
