Safety Collars I just bought a cat safety collar that releases if you pull on it. I don't plan to leave it on the pup when in the crate just incase. I know it only takes a second for the pups to get into some crazy situations. I bought it because it has a bell on it and I thought that would help us to make sure we don't step on the poor puppy. (I know yorkies are famous for walking under people's feet!) Does anyone have any experience with these to know if they do, in fact, release in unsafe situations? |

When my yorkies were puppies I had cat safety collar with bell on them too. I got them for the same purpose. I liked the idea and it work well for me. |
break away collar I had a really cute one the I was using with a bell until Macie figured out how to take it off herself... she would either bite the clip until it released or put her foot on the bell and pull until it popped loose. I was afraid she would chew on it and get choked on a piece of the plastic clip- so I retired the break-away collar. I ended up just buying a bell from Petco to put a regular collar that Ms. Houdini couldn't excape from. A bell is a necessity at my house- all my dogs wear a bell on their collars. When we take them all out for a walk it sounds like Santa Claus is coming to town! :p |
Hefner and Chai both wear the break away cat collars with the bell. I have never had to test the quick release so I am not sure if it works well or not. I hope so. |
