| I love hearing about them! They are so adorable. I have noticed a lot of people here have the very light colored ones, I think they are very pretty, too. I wonder what color they started out. Everyone thinks my babies look like rotweiler pups. (well, except my sis and her kids think they look like dachsunds)

Yes, you definetly cannot tell what breed a newborn Yorkie is. They look like Rottys or Dobermans to me. I think the light colored ones start out as the black and tan colored. You just don't know what your Yorkie babys coat is going to look like as an adult. My mom and I have Yorkie sisters. They were both the standard Yorkie color as pups when we got them, now you wouldn't think they were even related. Tiah as more of the reddish tan than she should because some of it runs into her back. I have noticed that a lot of Yorkies get more tan as they get older...I mean past getting their adult coats. We have a local breeder whose prices are very high, he sells on a no breed contract, and a lot of his adults are the not the "standard" color they should be as adults..too much of the tan. the thing is, once you get your puppy and fall in love with him/her, you just know they are the most beautiful no matter what!

My yorkie who is now silver and blonde (I call it) started out black and tan. He had a little white on two of his feet and I was told that this was a sign that the colors would be light. He is very light now but the roots on his back are now a darker silver. He is 17 months old, I don't know if his color is changing again or what. I love him ( all 12 pounds), I don't care what color he is but it is interesting the way they change.

Here in Israel tail docking is illegal...which I am glad because I love how they wave their tails like silky flags!

Moe is the Daddy. He lives in a kennel and is kept shaved (except for his head) to take care of him more easily. I will put a picture him and Tiah in this post. They are actually "still breeding" in the photo but you can't tell. He is sooooo small he makes Tiah look like a St. Bernard puppy (LOL). You can't see Tiah's back which is silver, but has some of the tan and black mixed in which it is not the AKC standard. I'm sure tons of you out there have Yorkies with some tan in their backs. Any way, Tiah's had to have a haircut due to the puppies coming (they can get caught up in the long hair and strangle...sadly it happens quite often). My daughter said Tiah lookl like a bobblehead now..here they are...
