The breeder also chose to breed the the chocolate yorkie and thats how I got Max, yep Max's mom is a Chocolate. He has AKC papers too but I have never turned them in. I am sure you will be able to find great homes for all your babies, it sounds like you've had a great response so far and they are only 1 week old thats great!

| [QUOTE=Laura]There is another thread here where they were talking about red yorkies. They breed them in to bring better color into their lines. I will find the link for you. You may have some expensive pups on your hands that other breeders might be interested in. Here it is, from 'is this a Yorkie" [I]Ok not too long ago I heard of a red legged yorkie which most of the times has coarse/wire silk coat. Their body temp. is usually lower than normal and they have a deeper red color to them. Breeders usually use these yorkies to get better colors in their lines. The hair on their legs and face I believe never gets long like a true silk yorkie.[QUOTE] A red legged yorkie it totally different than a chocolate/red yorkie. There is no way you can compare the two. While the red legged is desireable in a breeding program the chocolate is NOT and should never be bred!

Actually, they are only one day old as of today. They were just born yesterday morning. I really have had a great response. That is very helpful to know that you have a chocolate with papers. I have seen some pictures of chocolates (just since yesterday, because until then I never knew they existed). They are adorable! Did yours get a nice Yorkie coat? How old is yours? People list them as red/chocolate, but I see a big difference. Mine is definetly red (but then again, they were only born yesterday, the color may change some). I would love to see a picture of your Yorkie! Julz | |

| Yes, I think she was trying to intimidate me also. She wanted my red puppies because she already has some red that she breeds and wanted "new blood". She said that in the "red Yorkie world" people usually "trade". Oh, I saw the red flags everywhere and she was a little upset when I said I had to go and didn't take her offer of $1,000 for each puppy. |

His coat is very soft, he still has his puppy coat I think. http://img161.echo.cx/img161/6608/max8mo9nc.jpg I have heard many breeders say you should not breed a chocolate. I dont promote breeding chocolates, but I do have the offspring of one and I wouldnt trade him for anything in the world So I wonder if you have chocolates or reds? I think reds have thin coarse coats and chocolates should have the same type coat just different color. Is it too early to tell if their coat is different other than color?

| my "Hedy is considered a red leg" although she is totally cut down right now she does grow a silk coat, its a bit courser yet still a glossy beautiful coat. The pic in full coat is her at almost two years old, she is cut down now which shows her deep red coloring. http://yorkiepassion.com/hedy.htm

| Jennette- You know I am one of Max's biggest fans! I don't care if he was a purple yorkie... who could not fall in love with that face??? Okay... I don't know much about "rare" coloring, but I have never even heard of a red/white yorkie! I am dying to see these pics Julz! You have to post them. Does anyone know if these reds are really chocs since they are only a day old? Maybe this si what chocs look like when they are born? FYI... If anyone wants to look at some good pics of choc where you can really see the coloring .. Here is a link to one of Tino & Bunny's Dogster pals .... http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=152229&j=t

| Julz, I have posted a rather long PM to you. I did not want to start a controversy on this thread because it is clear that you are celebrating the birth of new babies. CONGRATULATIONS!! There is a great article from a few years back in the YorkshireTerrier Magazine that is mostly for professional breeders and handlers. You might find the same info on a site for GoldenRay Yorkies, but I am not sure. I love my choc boy, Snickers, and the other, Truffles. But, they do not have the same quality of puppy coat as my standards. I am awaiting their adult coats to see if they soften and grow nicely... BTW, many of the chocolates are from black and tan parents and occasionally from the blues as well.. |
