Hope for the best I'm sorry you couldn't get a sweet Yorkie. I wish the best for you so that one day soon you can get one. You have to commit to your Yorkie to take the best care of him/her, so unfortunately you have to have enough money for shots, vet checks and sick visits. Your little, innocent Yorkie will depend on you to take care of him/her. Dogs are very innocent, like children--they depend on their parent(s) to take care of them. I hope it willl happen for you when you are ready! Yorkies are so sweet, and will love you back more than 100%:) |
That's a great price for a Yorkie if you can afford it. Is it at all possible to get in touch with a Yorkie Rescue? Are you a stay at home person? If so your chances are very good. This way the price would be less and you would know the yorkie has it's shots and a clean bill of health. Put the rest in a fund and add to it when you can for emergency/vet bills. Good luck to you. There are so many Yorkie's needing forever homes, it dosen't have to be a puppy from a breeder. |

I'm not sure if I trust this breeder's reasoning for selling the pups because she is older and unable to do the bending anymore. That is something that didn't happen overnight, so why did she breed for these puppies, knowing she couldn't handle it? I agree with what some of the others said. Take your time and save the money, and the right puppy will come along. Also try to save extra for the vet costs. Puppies have alot of vet costs in the first year, and there's always a chance they might get sick. I waited years for my yorkies because I wanted to wait until my kids were grown. Now I have two and they were both definitely worth the wait!!! Try to be patient. :) |
I know how you feel, I wanted a Yorkie for a long time. I just got my Izzie after 6yrs of waiting. I wanted Tobey to have a friend. Its not worth it to get into debt, unless the breeder is willing to wait. When you are suppose to have your baby you will get one. Don't get discourage, good things always come for those who wait.:) |

Thats good that shes had all her shots, a little young. But remember, vet bills don't include just shots. I have had to take my two in for multiple reasons, just because I thought something was wrong, and ended up spendingg $200 or more. So please save your money until you have enough to pay for the dog, and have atleast $1k saved JUST for vets. Not including food. This is a life just like a human, please don't rush just because you want a dog! |

I have a bank account set up for the doggies (for the vet really). Each visit is $50 PLUS shots and meds. And then there is the tooth cleaning. YIKES!!!! but necessary. These are high maintenance lovable babies and need all the love and care we can give them. They deserve that. You really make a pldge to care for them when you bring them into your home. I decided to put money in the bank each time I got the urge to buy more clothes for them. They actually eat their clothes off, so I decided to not bother. Aren't they just cute nekkid???? |

Sorry it took me so long to update this thread. I eventually did get my yorkie. :) His name in Mojo, I got him about a year ago on March 8th. I was at work and saw an ad in the paper for a 10 wk old AKC male yorkie for $300 and immediatly called the number. I knew the chances of it turning out well were slim but i figured i had nothing to lose. Well i called her and she said that she had just gotten home from work and that she would hold him till i got off work so i could see him. I literally sped to her house as soon as i got off and soon after arriving was met by a precious lil yorkie pup. He was alert and playing and was absolutely beautiful. I asked her A LOT of questions, about medical history, registration, about his behavior and temperment. and I also asked her why she was selling him for only 300. She said that she really didnt want to, she used to breed them and after this last litter she decided to stop and keep one puppy. But she said after a few weeks it was hard to keep up the care he needed. (shes an older woman) She said she wasnt really looking to make a profit, she just wanted him to go to a good home and a loving family. She also sold his mom and dad..... Anyways... I brought him home and for the first few weeks i slept on the floor next to his crate with my fingers through the wires and hed fall asleep licking my hand. I love my baby so much and he is my spoiled little boy. :p and now he sleeps curled up next to me every single night (and for a little dog he takes up a lot of room) lol. As far as vet bills... the most ive paid at the vet at one time was i think 58 dollars.... but all together is definately been under 200. Yes im only 18 (will be 19 soon) and yes im still in college (i have 8 more years). Im also getting married in May to someone who loves my dog almost as much as i do. :D Thank you guys for all your comments, advice and support. Without you YorkieTalkers I probably wouldnt have my mojo. |
:D Congrats!!! Glad it all worked out |
I love happy endings. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, also. |
That is wondeful! So happy for you and Mojo. My daughter put her Yorkie's crate on her bedside table and they fell asleep with her fingers through the bars too. Very sweet. |
