Anyone's Yorkie ever have a nightmare? Well Buddy did last night and I almost got attacked. Really I need to know if this ever happened to anyone else. We were in bed for about 20mins when I started to dooze and heard him groaning and felt him twitching like he does when he dreams. I reached over to touch him and said Buddy and all hell broke loose. He jumped up and started snarling and growling. I reached for the comforter to protect myself from being bitten, slip off the bed and held the pillow in front of me while I turned on the light. I kept yelling Buddy until he finally woke up and realized it was me and not some intruder. What the heck was going on? He was kissing me and jumping all over me appoligizing. He is such a love I have no idea what was going on in his mind but this was very scary to me. Dreaming in a deep sleep is the only explanation I have. My room is totally dark so I am assuming I frightened him. Any other suggestions? Carol & Buddy |
The 2 little girls I rescued recently have nightmares . They sleep and for no apparent reasons , they start to scream . It is very sad to see them like that. I wished I could understand their language . |
He must have had one horrible night mare. |
What a bad nightmare he must have had. |

it must have been a nightmaire......poor baby, i bet he felt so bad after he realized it was just his mommy. i am sure it had to do with a combination of the dark, and him being startled..... |
awww,, poor baby,, dont you just feel so bad for them when that happens? lately lexi has been going into a real deep sleep and she is starting to make these sounds like a bird cooing or something to that sound... its scareing me. |
Muffin has had nightmare's before...she's actually yapped/barked in her sleep & it did not wake her up! She's never been aggressive though. I gently start rubbing her & talking to her. Then I start speaking louder until she's awake. When she "comes to" you can tell she has no idea what's going on, so I'm guessing she was just in an extremely deep state of sleep. Plus she ticked off that I woke her up! CJ |
One of mine too, he'll be sleeping and all of a sudden start yelping and whining and his legs will twitch like hes running! Its kind of funny but I know he must be scared of something. I just pat him lightly and say his name in a soft voice until he calms down. He usually never wakes up when I do that but he calms down. Poor guy does not sleep very deep very often, hes always up when IM up so I feel bad when he does sleep and then has bad dreams! |

My Sassy doesn't have nightmares, but I can see how that would have been a frightening experience! I also feel guilty about Sassy not sleeping as much as she should because she is always up with me. One night I had a particularly bad night and couldn't get to sleep. I was up and down until nearly five in the morning. I tried to get her to stay in bed, but she just followed me anyway, head hanging way down. I felt awful!!:( |
awwwww....poor Buddy - he must have been having a doggiemare that his treat got stolen or his mommy dressed him up in silly clothes......I can't imagine what else they could dream about :D seriously - That must have scared you...mine have never done that but they do 'talk' in their sleep sometimes |
None of mine ever did that I know of. I remember one time Kacee started howling while she was asleep. It was kind of a pitiful sounding howl. Made me feel like crying. :( I woke her up then. |
