| Izzy's Mess--I need help! Hi everyone, Well I had to share this with you today. My 4month old puppy Izzy made a huge mess at home. Here is some background: I work during the day so I was keeping him in the crate. My cousin was able to check on him in the middle of the day to feed him and let him pee/poop. Well she's working now and cant look after him for me. I found that leaving him in the crate all day, causes way too much stress for me and him mainly because he cant hold his pee/poop for 8 hours! So that brings me to today: I decided to block of part of a room for him and put his food/water, crate and pee pad in there. Day one: he got out and roamed all over the house, he ened up in my bedroom chillin on the rug next to my bed...awww. Lucky me, he didnt make a mess. Day two: I made sure that he couldnt escape. It worked but this is what he did instead. See pictures attached. He managed to climb over the boxes I had stacked up (I just moved so Im still unpacking) and tore open a box I had files in and proceeded to shred the paper and he managed to pull tissue out of the garbage can and tear that up too! I couldnt get mad, all I could do was shake my head. It was kind of funny, because he ended up on that side but couldnt get back, which is why he tore up everything and plus he was probably mad because I left him. My other solution is to get an exercise pen. I ordered it yesterday. Hopefully this will help. So where is he today you ask? Well I put him in my bedroom, there isnt much in there, just a bed and a dresser and some plastic storage totes. So we will see what damage he does today. Im afraid to find out. After all of this, I guess I need some suggestions on what I should do. For a week I was going home at lunchtime to check on him but that is too much driving and time. I live 20 min away from work. Im hoping the ex pen will help What do you think?

| LOL Mine did the same thing. You don't know how many blinds I had to replace in my living room. Now that I'm at my new house they have their own room so thats where they stay while I'm at work. They can make the mess they want in their room which is really not much of a mess just their toys all over the place. You will have to keep him in a area where there is nothing around just his bed, toys, food & water or get a x-pen. |

| LOL they are always full of surprises. I also live 20mins from work and traveled across a major bridge for 8weeks back and forth on my lunch hr to take Buddy out. It was worth it because he was fully house trained at 5mos. I had to use two baby gates to keep him in the kitchen because he could jump one. Their bladder gets stronger as they get older. It is important to get them on a schedule. I have to admit it though, it sure looks like he had lots of fun while you were at work. Carol & Buddy |

| Yeah, he had fun...I actually laughed because when I came home he was whining and barking because he couldnt get out! I wish I took his picture when I came home...he had this crazy look on his face like, get me out of here! It was hilarious! Lucky for him, he didnt destroy any of my good files. I was going to purge and throw them away once I unpacked.

| Hi, Just wanted to update you on Izzy. I left him in my bedroom yesterday along with his crate, food and wee wee pad and I left music on. Came home yesterday evening and was fine. No climbing on anything and no tearing up stuff! I felt so much better. So he will camp out in my room when Im gone to work until the ex pen is delivered. Thanks for all of the advice guys!

| Hope you ordered the tallest x-pen they have. Mine climbed out! I even put up a piece of plywood in my kitchen doorway and shoved the refrigerator up against it to hold it tight, and she STILL got out. I'm back to crating her when I'm gone! Thank God I don't work anymore, so I don't go often, and not for long amounts of time. |

| A child's playpen that my friend no longer needed worked fine for awhile. Until Ajah learned to jump, climb and crawl. She figured out a way to get out of everything I created (i tried boxes too she tore into the box but couldn't figure out how to get out). Guest bathroom and crating are the only things that work now for me. Good Luck. |

| Karla, after meeting little Izzy today, I think you should just bring him to my house while you're at work. Maybe that would help with my puppy fever, too!! Sissy really needs a playmate!!!!!

| My male is a paper shredder...his name is Tonka, but it should be Shredder. He eats any and ALL paper...well doesnt eat it but shreds it into strips lol. Toilet paper, kleenex, pee pads, newspaper, books, magazines, cardboard...you name it, he's killed it. A very annoying habit...he doesnt get left out much anymore when we are gone! Kristie |
