I've only ever had boys so I can't compare, but I just seem to prefer them. Here's a quote from my breeder's website: "By far, females are more in demand - which is really interesting, cause I just love the boys!! Most breeders agree that the boys are their favorite - they seem gentler and can be babied more. That's not to say that the girls are not gentle...but, the girls run the show around here - not the boys - they just do what the girls say ( like the real world !! )" ;) I just don't get it why females are so much more expensive than males. In my search I found that on average there was a $500 markup on females! |

Just like in the human world. A male and his sperm are essential in reproduction, but the female is the one that actually produces the offspring. |

I have had female dogs all my life. This is basically the first male that I have ever owned (except for some male puppies that my dad's dog had years ago...but he always sold them because he was a breeder) and I have to tell ya, out of ALL the female dogs I have had (and there has been ALOT!) the male that I have now is MUCH more loveable and playful than ANY female I have ever owned in my entire life. He is also a MAJOR momma's boy and has to be with me 24/7! :p He is a TOTAL lover! :) |
It seems like there's a trend where MALES are a bit harder to potty train, but a lot more affectionate and want to be around you all the time FEMALES are easier to potty train, but they're in their own little world. They are affectionate, just not as much. I'm a guy and prefer females because I like taking care of them. If it's a boy, I may feel like the dog is more of a friend than a son. But I'd prefer a dog that stays close to me at all times because I get scared as F@#$ when I can't find 'em. I'm going to get another Yorkie this summer, so this thread is very useful to me! ...Does anyone notice a difference between their discipline? Ex: do girls run away from you in the park more than boys? |
Foe some unknown reason even to me, I always had boys. Now I am thinking of getting another puppy and after reading this thread got totally confused. Piccolo is a boy and I don't know if I should buy a girl or a boy. What do you think ? |

I think that it depends. You should go and pick him/her out from the litter based on other characteristics and not sex ;) (that way you know you got the BEST one) :p |
Alaskayorkies...........YOU ARE HILARIOUS! Neuter a boy very early they dont get the "I will hike on anything that moves or doesnt move" I think they make equal pets. Neutered boys less temperamental then spay girls, but just my experience.:) Nothing to do with the thread but HI JESSY>>>>>>>HUGS!!!!!!!! |
I think it just depends on the baby! But in my extended family, we have always thought from our experiences that boy CATS and girl DOGS are the most affectionate and sweetest! My little Ariel always wants to be in my lap! She is so spunky and sweet and cuddly at the same time! Love her to pieces!!! |
