Tika does the same thing, she'll poop on the pee-pad, then pee on the outside of the pad  Now, I put a diaper on her and I've been the happiest person since last week (when I got them)!! No more scrubbing the carpets or floors. Seems like she holds it in until she gets to her playpen and goes pee on the pad in there. My daughter's Yorkie who is months younger than Tika, was potty trained at 8 weeks. I was hoping Tika would learn from him, but NOPE. I do like the fire hydrant - I think I'll get one too. A couple of things I found: I buy the large bed pads from Sams Club instead of the Dog pads - it's cheaper - I think it comes out to 19 or 20 cents per pad. It's a bit larger, but cheaper. I just bought the Diaper Genie cuz the plastic bags I put the pee pads in to dispose of - still gives out a smell. Wow, I tell ya, it's wonderful. I have it right next to her playpen and the thing is suppose to hold 30 diapers - so hopefully it will hold 30 pee pads (you just have to roll it up into a small ball). And there's no smell at all. |
I have Bailey pad/litterboxed trained. I did buy a dog litterbox, but they cat ones now that are larger. I put a pad underneaththe box, some Good News Pet litter in the box and a pad on top. The litter helps absorbs the pee when she sometimes scratches at the pad. I change the pads once or twice a day, I buy her pads at PetEdge.com (item # ZW19390) They are large size and inexpensive, 200 for $29.99, they last several months. Michele & Bailey:aimeeyork |
Thats a great idea using a plastic tote for a litter pan!!! I might try that one on my budget this time of the month! |
