Crate is toooo big! I just bought a crate for my soon to be puppy and it is Gi-normous! hahahaha. i am horrible at checking measurements when i buy something online. I bought her a 30' tall one, figuring it would be nicer for her when she's older and housebroken and she'd be able to stretch out and move around when she's in it. It will be fine for her when she's full grown but as a puppy she's gonna look so funny. Luckily it has a divider so i can close off half of it but it just looks so funny sitting in my room. It looks like i'm expecting a boarder collie sized dog. The cat seems to enjoy it though. he still doesn't realize what its for. he's sitting on top of it right now. too cute! :D |
How cute! We just bought a crate yesterday, too, for our new yorkie that we're getting on Sunday. But we wanted a bigger one so we could put her bed on one side and a pee pad and food on the other side. We will do this until she is over the hypoglocemic stage, then we will put the divider in without food & water so we can get her good and potty trained. Can't wait to see pics of your new little one. This will be our 2nd yorkie, so we're excited! |
Mine is kinda big too.. but it is working out really well actually.. I put her at night.. but she has to pee at night because she is a puppy.. so she pees on one side of the crate.. and she sleeps at other side.. she is doing pretty good. I was worried that it would be too big for her and it would be a disaster in terms of her peeing in there.. but it is working really great :) I am sure even yours is big.. you can be creative :) |
yeah i'm gonna put the divider in and block half off. i don't want her peeing in it. no pee in the house. if i let her pee on the pee pads she'll think its ok to sometimes pee in the house and that's not what i want. i''d rather wake up and take her outside then have to clean up everything all the time |
At first I had the X pen like Michiko, but she started to climb out of it. Now I have a HUGE cage too for like a 100-125lb dog! LOL I didn't want her to be cooped up in a tiny cage while I was at work. |

Hmmmm.. well.. I am not sure if pups can hold ... for long time... you might need to take her out often.. I use different pee pads for crate and in the playpen.. it might not make much difference but. I couldn't have Haruka hold for long. Good thing is that in playpen.. she goes to pee pad to do her things.. I think in the beginning, it might be hard without the pee pads though.. I don't know how you would do it.. |

she'll learn. just like other dogs. she may be small but she'll be able to hold it after a while. I know people who have tiny yorkies (3.5lbs) and they hold it all day while everyone is at work. I'd rather clean up accidents then teach her that its ok to go pee and in the house. |
