What's your Yorkie's favorite Brand of Food I've tried Eukanuba and Iams, and Olloie doesn't like either of those. I have given her a cheaper food, either Beneful or Pedigree, can't remember which one I had on hand for my daughters dogs. Anyway, she loved the cheap brand, but I want her on a good quality food since I plan to breed her. I'm going to get Nutro tonight and try that. What do your Yorkies like? |
Hmmm, does human food count??? LOL Daisy ate Eukanba fine and now she's eating Pro Plan fine.. Sorry I can't really help you.. I just have a little piggie on my hands... |
Mine love Lil caesars moist |
Hobbs loves Pro Plan. I tried to switch him to Nutro by mixing it in with his Pro Plan, but he would pick the Pro Plan out and eat it, and all that would be left in his bowl would be Nutro!! If he accidentally got any Nutro in his mouth, he would spit it out! Can you believe that?! He is crazy! I want to switch him to Innova, but I am scared he won't like it and I will be stuck with an expensive bag of dog food!!! I will probably just stick to the Pro Plan. |
All of mine like Canidae. |
Max and Abbie LOVE California Natural Lamb Meal and Rice dry dog food. I buy the largest bag (I think it's 30 lbs) and it lasts about 5 months. Max had always been a finicky eater until I switched to California Natural. I used to give them Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier and Abbie liked it but she couldn't tolerate it after a while so my vet recommended a food that has lamb as the primary ingredient--he said it's better for dogs with "sensitive stomachs." |
There are a lot of brands mentioned, that I have never heard of, where do you get them? |
All of mine love Nutro Max. Bobby, my Yorkie pup, refuses to eat any brand of puppy food, grrrrrrr, even Nutro Puppy! I bought my other dogs the Nutro regular-sized chunks, which are pretty big, thinking it would force Bobby to eat the puppy food. Nope! He'll crunch on the big chunks for as long as it takes to eat them. On another thread, Crystal recommended I try Innova because you can feed it to adults and pups. I sure hope everyone likes it! Loki loves Canidae too. It's a premium food recommended by the Whole Dog Journal. Try Merrick Brand, they got best food of the year. Innova and Wellness are great brands too. |
If you try Merrick, buy the smallest bag possible. Mine won't touch it. I've tried to sneak it in with the other food but they eat around it. Thankfully, I just bought a small bag but it was still $10. I hope the pets at the animal shelter like it cuz that's where it's going! Julie |
WE finally ended with California Natural made by same co as Innova and Zoey finally likes this one....FINALLY |
Georgie loves The Honest Kitchen and California Natural oh and human food of course :D Oh and California Natural isn't much more expensive than Iams and has no fillers in it. Candidae and Verus are great as well. :animal-pa |
I feed my two yorkies Back to Basics (chicken and pork), which was recommended by their breeder. For variety, I also give them Royal Canin Mini Special (#30) for sensitive and fussy small breeds. Does anyone else use Back to Basics? |
Royal Canine Puppy 33 and yorkie formula. |
Nutro lamb and rice formula, He went from 4-5 poops a day to 2-3. That in itself was great. |
nutro ultra (holistic) for my boys :) |
Thanks for all of the input. I bought some Nutro Puppy, I'm gonna try that for a couple of days. Petco said I could bring it back if she doesn't like it. If she doesn't like that I'll try something else. |
Jolene loves Innova EVO and Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie canned. My new fella, Biscuit came to me on Nutro but refused it once he got here. I still keep some out for him, just in case. He gobbles up the EVO and his favorite canned is Merrick's Smothered Comfort. They both only get a couple tablespoons of wet a day. |
I just bought a food we haven't tried before and was really impressed. Its Merrick brand and the flavor I give to them first was Smothered Comfort, it has real pieces of chicken thighs in it, carrots and not sure what else but they scarfed it up, which is unusual for my babies! I haven't seen it anywhere except Pet Supplies. I usually give them wet food at night and during the day they either get royal canine or Chicken soup, they seem to prefer royal canine. |
Mine get Solid Gold and they love it! I just think back to years ago, (30) when I got my first yorkie. He ate Purina Puppy Chow and then went on to kibbles and bits! Charly went on to live to be 16 on that kind of diet! Could you imagine how old he would have been if he would have had the good food that is out nowadays? I still miss him so... |

I still miss my Bambi too, after all these years....sigh :( |
Nutro Lamb and Rice! |
I use Royal Canin puppy #33 until he\'s a year old and then i\'ll switch to the Yorkshire Terrier formula of Royal Canin. |
 Buddy and Hermoine love the Natures Choice. It has the lamb and rice which is good for them. Doesn\'t have that junky additive. I use to give them the so called Yorkie Food just for Yorkies..and to my surprise, it ends up being not such a good food for them. All junk in it that doesnt keep them satisfied. Thank god I switched because now they aren\'t that hungry all the time. :animal36 :animal36 Remember, no rawhides...heard they are bad for your babies. :icon5: :idontknow I have a really nice pet store here that if you buy a bag of dog food and the dog doesnt like it, he lets you bring back the opened bag for a full refund as long as its full and not half used. well, gotta go..... :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa |
I think Ollie just likes cheap food. I gave her the Nutro, but left some of the cheap food in there with it and she ate all the cheap stuff and didn\'t touch the Nutro. Why can\'t thay make a quality food that tastes like the other stuff. So far she has rejected Eukanuba, Iams and Nutro. But likes the cheap pedigree. Well we go to Outback and order hamburger rather than steak, so she I guess she fits right in. |
royal canine Is the royal canine as good as it is suppose to be, I am pretty sure I am going to switch over to this brand. |
I never heard of that brand. |

I think so, Tigger only poops once or twice a day and it\'s nice and compact and it helped with his dry skin problem. |
thanks for the info |
