I feel horrible. I think Bailey might have been from a Mexican Puppymill 1 Attachment(s) http://cbs2.com/local/local_story_033201159.html With all of the talk about puppymills I did a google news search on the word and this comes up. I think Bailey, my pug is from one of those. Last year I didn't know much about getting a dog, all I knew where that pet stores were bad because those dogs were likely to come from a puppy mill. We had just moved into an apartment that allows pets. I was excited and I told my husband that I wanted us to pick out a puppy. I went online and saw an ad for a pug. We thought that papers were only used for breeding and didn't see it as important. I called him and asked the typical questions I knew from getting my cat a couple years ago. I asked him if there was a spade/neutar contract. He kept saying, "What? What is that?" He didn't even know what those words meant. I asked him if the parents of the dogs were on site, he said that he could show me a picture and they were his parents dogs. He said that he would meet my husband at the gas station. After what happened with the breeder who got her baby cut of her by a potential buyer, I understood if a breeder didn't want to meet at their house. My husabnd brought him home and I loved him instantly. He said that the shot record was all in spanish and it's from Mexico. This news story says that people bring in dogs from there all the time. Bailey is healthy but I feel horrible that my money contributed to that place. My other dog was rescued from a BYB, but a puppymill is 100 times worse. I feel like I owe Bailey to do something about it. I wish I could stop it all. I wish I could go down there and buy the female adults or something. I don't know what would make me feel better. I was very naive and I know so much more thanks to yorkie talk. Just please everyone, get a dog with papers and get to know the breeder first. Attached is an old pic of when bailey was a puppy with Brandy and Cosmo |
Don't Worry There's not much you can do now, but to love him and cherish him. I'm sure you do. |

Well, at least he has you to love him and take good care of him now. Lucky pup. |
The exact same sort of thing happened to me with my Bruce, I was duped plain and simple...It is easy to do with first time dog purchasers...I know it can cause a lot of anguish, trust me I do, but truly there is nothing you can really do now. So just love your pup and give him the best home you can, and spread the word...Do not let this happen to your friends as well!!! |
these people and these Puppy mills. I can't stant it. If your Bailey did come from Mexico I hope he is healthy. I am sure he is living a good life and getting plenty of LOVE |
That video broke my heart  This is not going to stop until there is a bylaw  But will there ever be one? OMGosh this is just so sickening  I Think my Scamp was from a puppymill & was taken away way too soon :( He always sucks on my pillows & Blankets, always sucking, still doing it & he is nearly (1) year old  |
I'm so sorry you think your baby might have come from one. All you can do now is love him and just keep it in your heart to do what you can to stop what goes on with puppymills and people bringing unhealthy pups over from Mexico. it's sickening, but it's hard to stop |
Just remember it's not your fault. And thank God he is with you now. I hate puppy mills and when I get to talking about them, it usually puts me in a horrible mood and ruins my entire day, so i'll leave it at that. Give that little guy a hug from me and tell him I said he has a great mommy! |
This is not about a puppy mill in the strictest sense but I have a friend who is on her way home from GA after flying down to pick up a beautiful little male Yorkie. She had already paid thru PayPal with a credit card. The puppy was tiny and on her way back to Atlanta it was sluggish and didn't move except for the frequent glops of Nutri cal she gave him. She was up all night on Sat and Sunday AM went to the ER. The puppy was near death and she paid to have it cared for with fluids, etc. The vet diagnosed large open fontanel, hypoglycemia but not primary-it was due in her opinion to LS. My friend called her credit card co and they told her to take a policeman with her when she went to return the puppy. She was afraid the poor baby was gonna die before she could even get him back to the breeder. END OF THE STORY--on Terr pets, the puppy is listed again with a higher price and free shipping. That IMO is as bad as any puppy miller. Someone will pay $2200.00 with free shipping for him to be sent from GA and he will most likely be dead by the time he reached his destination. Poor baby. I apologize for hi-jacking your thread but I wanted to point out that a large operation can be a mill but a small operation can be as bad... |
well there is noghing you can do exept love baily |
I think you saved Bailey and he's a very lucky dog. I think all of us are very, very lucky when we end up with a dog from a reliable and honest breeder nowdays. Even if you had seen the "parents" - would you know they were his? I wouldn't. I just go by how clean the place is, how knowledgable the breeder is, and how willing to share information they are. |

If you want to find the ad, PM me and I will find it...thru my tears.. |
p.s. This puppy is supposedly healthy and will not be shipped til he has more body mass. Who knows, the little guy may be okay after all. Let's hope so... |
