Yorkie Yakker | When did your yorkies coat change? Hiya- So my Toto is just 9 months now and his coat colours have begun to change but the texture is still the same as when he was a puppy, soft and thin but great shine. I have been waiting to clip off the black bits for when his thicker adult texture hair comes through. His parents were 8th generation show dogs so pretty sure what he should look like when mature. So general question, when should I expect the texture change? |

| Emma has stayed dark for the most part. Her to knot and face ‘cleared’ at about 7 months . She’s 5 now and I just cut her coat into a puppy coat and it’s still a dark saddle . Genetics has a lot to do with when the coat changes .

| Texture changed on mine around 6 months but it didn’t necessarily get thicker the boys hair got thinner but silkier. The color can change up until 2 years although my oldest has changed all through her life. Genes are more then just the parents she could look more like a grandparent or great grandparent.

| My kid will be 8 yo this month, his saddle has been changing colors since I adopted him at age 2 1/2 yo, it goes from black, to salt and pepper to more grey then back to black and on it goes lol.

| I'm wondering that too about Mike, we don't have access to his parents, except for one video of his mom and she has a light head and a black body. He's almost 9 months old now, his face has been getting blonder for the last couple of months, head and paws texture is silky and soft and body is thicker and coarse. It's so interesting their coat is quite unpredictable )) |

| I would bet on Toto having a beautiful adult coat judging from these pictures. Max was similar in coloring at that age. Silver topknot. His adult colors didn't come in fully until after age 2. His full brother Teddy was closer to 3.

| Latest pup's coat started to break early, around 10 weeks his head was white at the root and he had blue coming in at the roots on the body. He is 7 months now and completely steel-blue in the body and his head is slowly getting more blonde. Texture is silk. We clipped away his pup coat at about 5 months because it was a drastic change between the pup coat and mature coat that was tangling too much at the point of transition. |

| Mia changed until she was about 2 1/2 but seems to have stopped for now but I think she is still going to go gray. |

| Cookie has had a thin and silky coat ever since I got her at 14 weeks. She is 6 years old now and the only difference is the black hair started getting a little more silver after around 8 months and she has gotten a little more brown hair.
