I was having the same issue with having a set groomer. You would think grooming is free the way they are hard to be contacted. I truly only get the puppy cut may the beginning of warm weather and maybe September then I let her grow the rest of the year and I trim her abut so her ends don't look shady. But I must admit the groomers precision is better than mine and I have to be in the mood to do it to my standards. I use the 30 dollars grooming set from Walmart. It comes with guards so I'm never scared I will cut my diva. But I'm scared to cut her nails. Omg I get so freaked out I may hurt her because she don't like her paws touched at all really.

Mine just don’t have the personality for long hair so they stay short all year. I use the nail grinder in between grooming so I don’t have to actually cut there nails and it works well.

While I haven't tried out many of my back up plans/theories yet, I have several!!

My vet allows techs to perform some grooming functions--clean ears, eyes, clip nails, express glands, etc. (Their practice for the latter is far superior to most/all groomers.) I've never asked, but suspect they would clear a matt or two.

Haven't checked, but would ask my vet if they would refer me to a groomer.

There are several big-box stores close to me--they all have large windows surrounding their grooming centers with waiting room-like chairs on the outside of the windows. In light of all the well publicized pet deaths, don't believe I'd ever just hand my pup to these shop and then leave. Also wouldn't want her to wait in a cage before or after. Pretty sure I'd be comfortable allowing them to perform the service if I had my watchful eye on them albeit from the other side of those glass windows.

My back up plan left the grooming place she was at and it still would have left him in a cage . My vet has a groomer but they change so often and I wasn’t really thrilled with them. I pluck and clean their ears myself so I don’t have the groomer do that. I really like the mobile groomers because it is sooooo much easier with 4 and there is no caging or anything. Grooming is soooo stressful and hard lol. Callie must have went to 20 different groomers when it was just her while I tried to find one.

Yeah I ruined Jackson by bringing him to these places where he had to be dropped off for hours. I made so many mistakes with him since I was a new puppy owner and learning along the way! With his personality, I now know how traumatizing that was for him.

We do all 4 of ours at my dads house with a mobile groomer. She usually is in our driveway for about 4.5 hours w/ all 4 getting the works. We do approx every 8 weeks. It's so funny to wrangle each one up when it's their turn. They know too and try to hide so we have to blockade them off lol
