| What kind of dog do I have? I know it's a shallow title for a "yorkie" site, but I was wondering if any of you could possibly help me figure out what kind of puppy I have. Let me start off by saying I adopted her from SPCA. She was listed as a yorkie puppy but she had two sisters that were black & white and brown & white. Which is an odd color for a yorkie. Upon visiting the shelter they said she was possibly shih tzu mix but these pups look nothing like a shih tzu. They only had one picture that was supposedly the mother & it was the backside of what looked like a "blonde" yorkie. My puppy is now 8 months old, energetic, playful, very very smart, very attached/protective of me, & she loves being outside. The hair on top of her head is silky & silver like that of a yorkie. I'm stumped on what the father could be. I will post pictures of her sisters, her as a little puppy, & her now. Thanks for help in advance!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome. Whatever she is, she is CUTE ! I'm not totally sure what she may be. But if you really want to know, you could spend about $60 and get the Wisdom Panel done - it would tell you everything she has in her.

| She is a bundle of cuteness for sure. It is hard to say what she is mixed with, sounds like you have a smart little one there and have given her a chance for a wonderful loving life and home. The Wisdom Panel test sounds terrific and will satisfy your curiosity.

| She sounds and looks pretty gosh-darn wonderful. What is her name, by the way? She definitely looks yorkie-ish to me;and it sounds like you got a great "mix" no matter what! |

| Thank y'all for the wonderful responses! I will definitely check out Wisdom Panel! I have had a couple people tell me chihuahua but the brown & white sister is what's throwing me off! Her name is Rosie by the way! |

| Reminds me of my Micky, who was a Yorkie/chihuahua mix. Last edited by atlantis1982; 04-21-2017 at 05:42 PM. |

| It's a DNA test for dogs, mix-breeds in particular. You swab the inside of your dogs cheek, send it off, & they send you results of your dogs breed. I believe they can go back as far as your dogs grandparents. I've heard good things & read some awesome reviews on it. I'm definitely going to try it with my mystery breed pup! |

| The DNA test is about 90 or so percent accurate, which is a lot more accurate than trying to guess the breed by appearance. Here is the website: Dog DNA Test, Dog Breed Test - Wisdom Panel Canine DNA Testing | Wisdom Panel . |

| Rosie is adorable! I don't know if it is true or not, but growing up, I always heard that mixed breed dogs were healthier. For Rosie, I hope that is true. |
