Attachment 410443OK - I am at a loss on this one. Charlie LOVES to have his butt patted! He will actually "back up the bus" to get in position. It is the funniest thing to watch.

As a self-appointed expert on weird, I can easily visualize the action you describe, however to ensure that I, as well as my YF colleagues, have all information necessary, I believe a video of this unusual* behavior is absolutely required.
{*unusual for everyday animals--not at all unusual for our "really-Charlie-really?"}

Attachment 410488Well, yesterday we gave the "bribe" process a chance. Charlie loves popcorn! The wife gets those 100 calories per bags and when she gets one - ole Charlie goes nuts! He runs up and down his couch steps waiting for the wife to open up the bag. The wife will prep a piece and feed it to Charlie - he loves them. The wife eats most of it though.:) So, the wife got into the back seat of our car (bag hidden). When Charlie starting going nuts - the wife opened up the bag in front of him - no reaction - kept screaming. She tried to give him a popcorn - he ignored her offer and kept screaming. We pulled into a gas station and after a few minutes Charlie finally stops and then decides to jump onto the popcorn. The wife gives him a few and then hides the bag again. We pull out of the gas station get a ways up the road - get ready to turn and Charlie goes into his screaming mode ignoring his popcorn. Another possible solution bites the dust!:(

I tried the food bribing route as well. Nope, doesn't work because NOW Beanie thinks IF she barks more, she gets a cookie. So she will bark at something/anything and then spin around to look at me to give her a freakin cookie. The only thing that this has accomplished is that I now have to make her lose weight (per my vet) as she is too heavy for her frame because she has luxating patellas, which I think are starting to bother her.

Plus bouncing around in her little car seat bucket is NOT helping her legs. OMG, I swear I am at my wit's end with this creature!!

I believe Charlie's screaming fits have become a habit now, something he thinks MUST be done when he goes in the car, if he LOVES his popcorn and refused it in the car while car is in motion, to him his screaming is top priority. Sorry I have no suggestions, all my yorkies LOVED the car. BTY, I have been following this thread and that Charlie is one cute, little character lol.

Attachment 410491He use to love the car - just look out the window - never a peep. All this happened one day when we were in Florida. It was like someone threw a switch. When he goes into his screaming mode - his eyes looked glazed over - body tight - kind of scary. Sometimes he is quiet but goes nuts when we pull into a parking space. Yea, maybe he is excited but he just never did that in the past. When I finally stop - I have to wait a minute or so for him to calm down, eyes to clear up and he is just as friendly as can be - strange. He still runs to the car and scratches at the door to jump in - makes us feel real bad. We feel even worse when he is standing at the front door watching us drive away. We leave the front door open and storm door locked so he can watch outside. I pull up the CAM and he never leaves the front door - barks on occasion and just waits for us to come home. Oh well. :(

Pipe love loves loves chicken jerky; begs for it, demands it, bounces, ga-ruffs...One time when she went out open back gate, calling her did nothing. But when I said 'chicken jerky' vvvvvooommm--she was instantly at my feet. However, when Piper is making a point about her disappointment at my going to work or when we're out and about shopping, walking, etc., nothing, not even chicken jerky, interests her...That little Charlie has a will of iron, he does---wrapped inside of the cutest, silkiest most adorable guy everrrrr!!!! Charlie scores, yet again. Let's see what does that make it now? Charlie 32, His People 0---yikes! Gooooooooo, Charlie!

Attachment 410493Got me laughing - The wife can say "get me some popcorn" and before she finishes the sentence - Charlie jumps off the couch and is in the kitchen waiting for me to get a bag! Another goody Charlie really enjoys is carrots. When we are ready to eat - we give Charlie a small piece of carrot. We also reward him with a piece when he goes potty on the paper (when we can't get him outside). Geeeeez, listen to us - Pipe, Beanie, Charlie and every single Yorkie are playing us like a piano!

Wow that really is strange such a turn about, the glazed eyes, tight body, like something spooked him and he's on guard ready to defend / protect. Did you ever get a flat tire while in motion when Charlie was in the care, or maybe loud boom from fireworks, I won't ask about a car back firing lol, don't think they have cars that do that anymore lol. Sounds like something scared him while the car was in motion if he calms down when the car is in park. Have you consulted a dog behaviorist,this is very stressful on him. I saw the photo of him looking out of the storm door lol so cute and sad at the same time. I sure hope you find an answer and a solution for his behavior.

Attachment 410500No to everything (loud noise, flat tire, etc.). It appears when Charlie see's a lot of color and when we take turns - he goes nuts. If it was just Charlie - I might consider spending a bunch of money on a dog behaviorist - but, I have found a bunch of other Yorkies with the same problem and only one person (using food) has figured it out. As long as we don't take Charlie out - he is just fine. Hopefully, someone will figure it out and share their findings.

Dang, that is sooo odd--and who knew that it is a not uncommon idiosyncrasy (?)amongst these little tykes. Something about lots of colors and/or turns? I wonder what they're seeing or feeling...Give that Charlie an extra bit of popcorn from Pipe and me---little honey!

Attachment 410501Here are a few threads here on YorkieTalk that talk about problems (some) Yorkies have in cars - some threads start off with screaming but many entries are screaming in cars. There are a lot more threads - but, here are just a few.

I also found a bunch more on other forums - so this may be a characteristic of some Yorkies... :(

Such a little honey! We had snow and 9 degrees the other day and today it's raining and about 40! Piper makes do with her fleece blanket...

EXactly what Charlie is thinking!!! How is he doing with the driving??? Errrr. I mean Riding in the car???

Buddy has gotten a new car seat, it's huge, but he still puts up some fuss.
Boy these yorkies are hard to please. :p

I ran into my BFF employees car cause BB caused me to let my hand on the steering wheel slip off.......just a few slight bumps, but DH Eventually saw the damage {oops,] The car I bumped had a lot of damage already as she said she had teenagers and refused to make a claim. So, now BB is always buckled in much to his dismay.

Piper looks so cozy, I think I could take a nap with her and Charlie!!!! LOL
