| Hi Fellow Yorkie owners,Ours just Passed away :( Hi to all, we are devastated, we just lost Sir William Cody 3.8 yrs old we are Lost and beside ourselves at this terrible time. I thought I would share what took place, and excuse me for my writing abilities in advance. This started when Cody got a hold of a chicken breast just for a few seconds, (we did not feed it to him) I got up to answer the phone and then heard a choking sound and Cody was throwing up a yellow bile and he had skin in his mouth which was quickly removed. Called the Vet and Rushed him there. They examined him and gave him a shot ( Cerenia) to calm him down. Was told to take him home and watch him carefully. He was anxious, un-easy, not able to stay in one place, and lethargic. We could not see him getting better after 24hrs and could not stand the thought of Bones being in his body, I kept saying to myself, I would not be able to forgive myself without a full set of Xrays to rule out Bones.. We got the Xrays and the Vet said he was clear and the Radiologist confirmed as well. I did not see the Xrays then. The results were told to me. The Vet informed me that Cody was Impacted with small stools. With that, I thought great he's constipated, I gave him a enema with my hand in retrieving what I thought was blockage. Even after all that, he was still not right , He wouldn't sleep in his bed with us, anxious and Lethargic. Called the Vet and told her. I also told her we had to leave for 4 days and would they take care of him ? they said of course they will board and keep him in the medical part of their boarding facility. We felt ok with leaving him since they are a Hospital and have taken care of him since he was a baby. We left and called daily to ck on Cody, each time they said he was doing great! On the 3rd day I received a voice message from his doctor and she indicated that Cody was doing well but she was having to syringe feed him. and that she would see me tomorrow when I pick him up. I was amazed to hear that he was being syringe fed after 7 days after eating the Chicken Breast.. I thought how odd is that???? Problems right??? We showed up to pick Cody up on the 12th, While checking him out the Dr never came out, the girls and an attendant said Cody was doing Great !! and ate for the first time today.. What a Lie that would end up being ! We arrived home Cody didn't even want the air in his face which is normal for him he was way off and was totally dehydrated, I gave him some water by a syringe and a few pieces of lunch-meat. He couldn't jump and could barely walk !! Now mind you I just picked him up from the Vet. While standing in the garage Cody Started throwing up Blood!!!!!! about a 12 inch diameter plate full.!! I scooped up the blood and put it into a bag and rushed back to the hospital !! yes, the place I just picked him up at !! Another Dr was there, she examined him and said maybe he needed a blood transfusion.. What ?????? Is wrong????? I said he has to be bleeding inside DUH!!!!!!! She reviewed the Xrays with me and to my amazement I saw two Xrays and they were both of his Abdomen , I SAID WHERE IS HIS THROAT AREA???? They never took pictures of his throat!!!!! I am not sure if she did anything there as she instructed me to rush him to another Hospital that will have blood if he needs it for a transfusion... What !!! this is unbelievable !!!! We rushed him to the other Dr hospital and Immediately we were told Codys Blood Pressure was 50 and he would need to be stabilized before any further test could be done >>.....?? What am I hearing?????? So we left on the 13th at 1am, we received a call at 6:30 am Told that Cody took a turn for the worse and to get down right away! we were there within 45 min, the dr explained that Cody Raised his neck and appeared to have a Neurological Event. Maybe a Blood Clot to the Brain? was said, they brought him into the room to visit us, as soon as he saw me he Gave out the loudest blood curdling cry I have ever heard >>>> And he died in my arms... (((((( We were TORN APART AND STILL IS!!!! He was in perfect health... I then on my own thought, I needed to find out why Cody died ? I went and got Cody 30min from being cremated and shipped him to a place that did a Nycropsy. That showed Cody had a bone approx. 2" by 1.5" in his Throat / Esophagus. And that he bled to death.......... YES !!!THIS WAS PREVENTABLE!! 1st a complete thorough Exam. 1st time there and 2nd time there!!! 2nd Xrays of his total body including the throat!!! 3rd Acting on the obvious signs, Un- easy, Lethargic, not him- self , not sleeping in his bed. Beware of Actions and Listen to your Animal they are talking without a voic |

YT 1000 Club Member | I am so sorry for the loss of this baby. I can not even imagine what he suffered. Has the vet said anything about it and why the x rays were not taken that showed his throat? That is so very sad.

| This is just horrible. Poor baby! I think I would report this vet to the authorities and file a formal complaint. No animal or family should suffer like that.

| Thank you for taking the time to make this painful post and sharing your tragedy. I'm heartbroken for the fact that your baby is gone and it all happened the way it did. It's a horrible lesson for us all to always keep pressing our vets when our dogs are telling us, in the only way they have, which is by how the act, that something is wrong no matter what the vet says. Maybe second opinions should be routine in those kinds of cases. Poor little Cody - I'm so sorry this happened to him over all of those days and am so sorry for your loss.

| That was heart wrenching to read, I am so sorry for your devastating loss. I could feel your pain while reading your post and felt a lump in my throat the entire time. I can only imagine how hard that was to write but thank you for taking the time to write that and reminding us all to trust our instincts with our babies. My thoughts are with you during this time. |
