I made the mistake of watching some youtube videos on it.. nightmares and horrible waking thoughts. Pets are being stolen at an alarming rate to be sold at the festival. Some of the stolen dogs have been identified at the festival. Some still have their collars on. In photos it appears some of the dogs are still alive while scalding/boiling water is used to remove their hair. This is just sick and inhumane! |
I've signed several of these. The best thing to do if you want to help is donate to the Chinese activists actually doing the fighting. I would end up in a Chinese prison if I witnessed that. I would absolutely lose my s**t and get violent . |

I am posting without reading the whole thread. .. so please forgive me if I misunderstand or repeat. I agree about the meat industry in the us. I teach food production and spend a lot of time on choices with my students. I show FOOD INC. and we study other documentaries and publications. I do my best to make my students aware. That is our power... knowledge and choice (our purchasing power) I think the power we have is the power of what we buy. There are small changes.... but we need so much more and that will not happen until we stop buying gmo and meat that is not raised or killed humanely. I love meat but have stopped eating most except fish and chicken. free ranged. I have friends who won't drink milk or use eggs.. I just don't know how much is right or wrong anymore. On the dogs in China. Oh how sick.... I do wish I had the power and I admire the rescue groups in China that are doing something. I do think killing a dog is different then stock animals in that they are our pets and are loving and intelligent (one of the reasons I question eating pork). I think the people of China are taking steps to stop the festival, I LOVE the pictures of the dog thieves beaten up!!! One good thing. In addition to the killing of dogs in a horrific way be aware of the killing of whales and dolphins and the killing of sharks for shark fin soup..... the list goes on and on and on. Just the pictures of dogs in kill shelters makes me ill. Knowledge is the only way all this will change. imo |
UPDATE FOR 2016 Hello All - Sadly, it's the time of year again where we ALL need to take the time to bring more awareness to and help put an end to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Despite how difficult it is to learn the details surrounding this "festival of torture", we all must be willing to be part of the change if we wish to see that change. Please educate yourself via the still-valid links in the first post of this thread. Then, please do something...anything...to help put an end to the purposeful and planned torture of innocent beings. Progress has been made, and progress will continue as long as people like us continue to put our efforts forward. Pass the word on to as many people as you can... And now, let's cross all our fingers and paws that next year, there will not be a need to resurrect this thread. Thanks all!:animal-pa:love::animal-pa:love: |

Just signed it. I never heard of this horrendous festival before, but I was aware that those in China cook and eat dog meat. We need to stop it....stop the madness where our best friends are being killed for food. It's not right... It's not right... It's so not right!! :( |
Signed the petitions and donated. The whole thing is so heart wrenching...This must stop. |
Insanity I have signed a petition on this, and I will find it and share. I agree about different cultures, and in some countries starving people will eat whatever is available. However, this is not the case here. This is a festival! These are not desperate people waiting for their next meal. My issue is that over the last few hundred years, we humans have domesticated dogs (I am so grateful for this) With this domestication, dogs have lost much of their survival instincts, aggressive instincts, and have learned to trust and rely on the human relationship. To betray this trust sets us back many years. Its a disgrace to humanity and they should be ashamed. Kathy Quote:

:'( I've seen photos of this so-called Yulin Festival and it is indeed gruesome. Every nations has their own cultures and beliefs but this is too much. Not a single dog deserves to experience that horrible abuse. Not being racist, but I don't know what's wrong with Chinese people and whoever invented this Festival must have a missing soul. I personally Chinese people who are also dog lovers and I have seen videos and picture of dogs over the internet showcasing some of the dogs' fun time and being loved by their owners who are Chinese. So, I don't understand why no one in China fought against this festival or if there is, why aren't they succeeding as there are also a huge population of dog lovers in China? |

1 Attachment(s) Was just doing some more reading about Yulin, and came across this picture. This picture? It literally just breaks something inside me when I see it. Please, if you can, sign petitions and pass any information on to others who'd be interested in doing something...anything... |
