My Dogs Hate Football! My Dogs Hate Football! Try as I do, I can't get them to enjoy a good verbal game here at home. :D I've tried praise and positive reinforcement to get the two of them to enjoy a good game of the Seahawks putting the hurt on the opposing team. Usually they end up making their way to the bedroom for a little peace and quiet. Maybe they are closet 49er fans and are too embarrassed to watch their team lose! LOL All in good fun! |
Ha - they need a jersey and some game snacks to get them in the spirit! |
Joels the same way but I still make him wear that Packers jersey:p |
4 Attachment(s) LOL I love it! Special snacks and jerseys for them! I've been doing it all wrong! LOL Panthers are going down next saturday! Go Hawks! |
Gracie Ruth was around 9 or 10 months old during her first football season. My husband can't watch the games without shouting, cheering, screaming and yelling. Gracie always has been and still is very aware of the tv and what's happening on the screen. One day several weeks into the season, she starts barking and screaming at the tv. I look up and there is a football commerical on and she's barking like a mad dog at the players on the tv. LOL!! She saw her Papa "barking" at the tv when the players are on, so I guess she thought she needed to bark at them for him since he wasn't there. It was hysterical to watch. GO COWBOYS!! |
Lol! Maybe they're expecting a beer???! |
Perhaps a little 'mock' tailgating to get them revved-up?! Bring on the nachos...! |

LOL Anne! They'll be waiting for a long time for that beer! ;) Nachos sounds like the ticket for this Saturday night to attempt some added interest from the pups! Thanks! NFL Playoff Picture - NFL.com |
OMG, my oldest girl absolutely can't stand football. She loves to sit with Pop in his chair all the time, but if she hears the game on t.v. then she runs for it!! I think it has something to do with all the yelling and stomping that goes on in the living room during a football game :D |
Well Cali is a basketball gal - not much for football - don't like those concussions:D When the BB games come on she wear either her University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, or Indiana University outfits - then goes and gets anyone or two of her basketball toys. Of course in our area our babies teeth on basketballs! A couple weekends ago when Cali and I were running the track at the University 2 of the football players came onto the track to run -- we documented, complete with selfies, but neither of this big guys could out run Cali from the 40 yard line to the goal -- they were stunned that something that small could be that fast. One of them said it was like trying to catch a mouse:D |
Awesome!!!! Totally awesome...You go, Cali! |

Max and Teddy don't like football either. They tolerate their grandpa watching NASCAR and Weather Nation, and that is it. Thankfully they have trained him to watch mostly without sound. The first thing Max ever saw on TV was a Chicago Cubs game and he barked like mad. He didn't like those baseball players in our family room. :p |

You also made me think of a debate my father and I had over who is faster: muscular Max or lean little Teddy (same leg length). A race in the yard determined Max is still a hair faster than his little bro. Max also has superior cornering capabilities when rounding shrubs. :p |
Maybe they hate the NFL for its VERY messed up morals of allowing convicted dog abusers and killers and wife beaters play but not an openly gay man who HAD to be good enough if he was wanted by many teams before he came out. Either way, I'm with the dogs. Football is horrible. |
This thread is for fun so I'm counting on the "referees" to take care of business this weekend! :p Trolls should be ejected from the game. Thanks! Here's a YT ref to yorkie speed: "I clocked Jackson (he runs at full speed next to me while riding a four wheeler- however he's on another side of the fence). He hits 19-20MPH pretty steadily and easily! But he's a big boy at 16lbs." __________________ ~ Brit & Jackson ~ And a google answer: "Dec 23, 2009 - A dog (including yorkies) can run an average of 19 mph, but the fastest " And a youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhAtWqJmj3g Kinda funny! |

The video was adorable. Teddy beats Max in eating speed. :D |
Nachos just hit the oven, pot stickers and soft tacos at half time, the game is about to start! Dogs got a nice walk earlier so hyper with game time anticipation! Hawks are going to devour the Panthers! 38 to 6 Hawks I predict! Go HAWKS! |
Excuse me, but those don't sound like Yorkie treats. No wonder your fur kids hate football:( You need to work on the menu a bit to win them over :D |

31-17 Hawks today! It was a very good game... Hawks had about 50 yards in penalties in just the first 10 minutes of the game.... HOLY MOSES! LOL If you didn't see the game and like football, find a recap video for it.... It was "strangely" spectacular today. |
What??? Football is when Daddy has all the ppl over..ppl are lot of fun..I get treats every touch down if dance http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f9...ps63bf3c56.jpg |

MarkfromSea---love your enthusiasm and sense of humor; your posts are enlightening, compassionate, and more often than not, bring a smile to my face! Do your little ones have a tiny 'pigskin' to toss around during halftime...?! |

I've grown up with and believe football is a wonderful sport and it needn't be condemned as a whole for some truly horrible idiots. It's too bad there are always going to be bad people and bad incidents in most all organizations. But I believe football brings more good than bad to all of us--the camaraderie, friendly rivalries, excitement, athleticism, and some really wonderful role models. And more, importantly...regarding these posts, I think we're all just having some fun here--just some light-hearted teasing and fun. That last game had some explosive plays! Kearse's one arm catch and TD, Kam Chancellor's 89 yard pick 6 TD and his not one but two leaps across the line! Wow! I'll keep working on the pups! They'll love it once I figure out "their" game. LOL |

We do have toys but not a little pigskin for the pups. Both of ours are a little light on playing, one is sort of a rescue(rescued by a previous owner) given to us, the other is a rescue we bought. Both of them, their history is a mystery. They simply do not play like pups normally would if raised originally in a fun home. We love them all the same, lots of attention and walks. Thanks Again! :D |

The Seahawks are the most penalized team in the NFL but when the game ends, the players of both teams come out on the field and shake each others hands and smiles are all around. |
