My 7 Month Old Yorkie Is Obsessed With My 8 Week Old Yorkie. HELP!!! I wanted to get a new yorkie, since my 6 month old yorkie gets so depressed when I have to leave him home alone. I know, because I would check up on him periodically with my video camera. He would just lay down the whole entire time I was gone, and just wait for me to get home. He wouldn't even eat or drink water until I got home. I just got my new 8 week old yorkie yesterday morning. He is so excited that he has someone else to play with. It was to cute to see them playing with each other, but as the hours went by older yorkie Coby kept following her everywhere that she went. If she started to play with a toy he would try to play with the same toy with her, so she would run away with it and he would chase her to play with the same toy with her. If she laid down he had to lay really close to her. Sometimes he will try to wake her up to play if he felt like playing, and she wanted to sleep. She gets irritated by him sometimes, and will move away from him. He will continue to follow her over and over again no matter what. Most of the time when she's sleep he will force his self to go to sleep with her. Sometimes she will snap at him by biting him, but that doesn't work for to long. Sometimes he bites on her a little to hard. He's not trying to hurt her, but it appears to me that he doesn't realize how strong he is sometimes. It's weird, because sometimes she doesn't mind playing with him in a rough manner. The other issue that I have is that Coby isn't eating enough food now. He just watches her eat, and when she grabs the food out of the bowl to put it on the floor to eat it he will go up to her sometimes, and eat the food with her. This is weird. Will he stop these behaviors soon or will he always be like this with her? |

Give them some time. You just got her yesterday? Of course he is super interested, it's a new dog in his house. I would try and do something's with them individually and he is bothering her too much maybe crate her or put her in a separate area where she can have some alone time. Give them time, they will work it out but yes please be sure everyone is spayed and neutered |
Coby is just a baby himself and happy he has a play pal, the novelty will wear off,he is bonding with her, they will be good buddy's. Spay & neuter so they will be "just" friends and not mom & dad lol. Enjoy them. |
I think it's better that he's obsessed instead of resentful and mean to her. I'm sure after awhile he will calm down. |
Ok. Thanks. |
Ok. I sure will. They are doing much better now, but she still has her little moments when she doesn't want to be bothered by him. Sometimes she just wants to play alone or just be left alone. I don't crate train, but I do playpen train. I couldn't use the play pen for her, because she's so small that she walks right through it. She's doing much better than Coby did getting puppy pad trained. Once in the blue she will pee on the floor but won't poop on the floor, but she usually goes to the bathroom on her puppy pads. |
You were definitely right. They are best buddies. I sure will. Thanks |
True. They are best buddies now. |
My Chachi was real excited like that when we brought home Jewels then he calmed down. I think your not going to have any problems with them not getting along |
It sounds like Cody is just thrilled to have a BFF! They playing sounds awfully cute and do not worry about him be obsessive she will put him in check if needed when the time is right. |
Sorry, I see his name is Coby not Cody. |
