Can someone be around 24/7 to look in on your puppy? If so, then you can do what I did with my Bella. I kept her in her sleeping crate most of the time, but took her out once an hour to potty, eat, drink, and play (45 minutes inside the crate, 15 minutes outside--she was tethered to me when she wasn't in her crate). The potty pad was inside a separate pen exactly the same size as the pad, so she didn't have any choice but to pee on the pad. I praised and treated her every time she used it, then put her back in her crate. The key is confinement, strict separation of the sleeping and potty areas, and praising/treating for peeing in the right place. After 3 weeks, Bella was completely potty trained. At night, at first I set an alarm so I could get up once in the night (2 AM) to take her out of her crate to potty. Now she can hold it longer, and she wakes me in the early morning when she needs to potty.
