1 Attachment(s) Hi, my little Oakley was born 11/18/2012 and we've had him 4 weeks already. At his first vet visit he weighed 1.9 lbs, lol. He has grown since we first got him and I can't wait to see how much he weighs at his next visit. His mom is 5 lbs and dad 2 1/2 lbs. Here's his picture: |
Hey everyone. I am new to YorkieTalk as well as being a new Yorkie Mama. I just got my baby girl, Boccee (Baw-Key) last Sunday. She was born November 24. Her breeder says that she was 1lb 12oz at 10 weeks old. She will see her new Vet tomorrow morning! |
Mia's vet visit went well, just some more shots (ouch) she weighed in at 2lbs 2oz so in the last 2 weeks she has gained a whopping 5 oz!! |

Mia, that's wonderful! Pooky had gained 2 oz since last week and I was wondering how quickly they gain after 12-13 weeks. Well, I see according the this link on the 7 stages of Puppy Development that Pooky is well into stage 4....terrible twos! :D 7 Stages of Puppy Development I know that growth charts are typically off and the double the weight at 12-14 weeks plus a 1/2-1 pound is a little more accurate but has anyone had experience with this Yorky Growth Chart?? It seems a little different than the others. Puppy Growth Rate Conversion Chart |
Thought this was fun to read as well regarding different sizes of puppies in the same litter: Quote:

Mia was born oct 24th :-) she is now 3 pounds! Still as happy and spunky as ever. She actually had her final shots today and she was a pro! Don't you just love showing off your growing puppies?! I'd post pictures but I'm using my phone. |

My lil man, Tyson was born into a litter of eight (inc him) on November 5, 2012. I don't know how much he weighed, but he weighed 1.6 kg at 8 weeks and weighed 2.1 kg at 13 weeks. I'm having him weighed at a puppy clinic next week when he's 15 weeks as I'm sure he's heavier and definitely taller. Just measured him and he's 7.5 inches to his hunches. He's still got all his baby teeth and his coat it slowly lightening especially around his face and paws. He has the cutest tail which is light on the underside and curls over his back so he looks like a skunk... :) |

My Maddie was born on Nov. 20 which is the BD of my youngest grandchild...must be a good sign! She is 1.9 pounds and adorable. So far she will potty on command for a treat and my saying "good girl!" BUT she poops at will...anywhere! I have conflicting information....feed then take outside....feed then put in crate for 30 minutes....feed then put in pen with toys and pad off to side......well no matter what I do....she does what she wants....then poops where she wants. Any suggestions??? |

When he does his business I applaud and pet him congratulating him for a good job. That's all there is to it. Yorky's are known for being a little more difficult at potty training. It's very important that WE not get excited, even though we want make a big disgust over it because a dog interprets that as praise. It's better to clean up the mess with no odor left, and congratulate them when they do what we want. Pooky's funny, I want him to go on the grass rather than the flagstone. I've caught him just about to go on the flagstone and made a noise and he scooted on the grass to do his business. These are very smart dogs. Wipe the slate clean for you little one, clean the house the best you can from any remains and be more patient with her when you know she needs to go. Pooky goes both first thing in the morning normally but he had a big one before bed last night after not have a 2nd bm during the day, so I suppose that's another reason why we got off. I've read that within 15 min after eating they need to relieve themselves. The other way to help them is get them to walk. Keep her moving around and it'll come. I'm not using a crate. Maybe someone else will have more ideas. |
Pooky will be 15 weeks tomorrow. The Royal Canine Kibble the breeder gave him will also run out mid day and I'm ready for Pooky to go raw. I've been reading up about the stinky breath, poop eating dogs and they say they are missing something in their diets. Owners report the stinky breath and poop eating stops once they've switched their diet to raw so I'm ready and will report how it goes in a week or so. It's frustrating when he has food in his bowl and he'd rather chew on poop or try and eat tile mortar. Seriously sends me a message he's missing something. |
