She never said what the real cause of Lilo's death was. She said they thought a blockage/ate a bone or something like that. She didn't get a necropsy so we don't know for sure. To be fair, I could not have the vet do a necropsy on Scrappy either. I did not want him all taken apart to pieces like that. Just didn't feel right. Plus that adds to the overall bill.

Well she did have the extra money

Indeed....a total waste of time...and what an accurate description!

But to answer your question, there are not many young people in general who foster, much less unemployed college students. But I don't think Cess was unemployed while in school. She mentioned work a few times.

Yes there are out of pocket costs for fostering. I pay for all food, toys, clothes, grooming, leashes, gas for driving them to the vet, pretty much everything BUT vetting. We don't get paid back for any of it. We do it as volunteers.

The turkey bone thing always made me wonder. Out of all the yorkies I've had fostered, plus mine, Uni is the best trained one. She would NEVER eat out of the trash, off the counter, etc. If Lilo was so well trained, why would she go in the trash? And I assume if it's a bone, it was trash.

Trash cans are easy to get to for dogs. It's in their line of sight and I'm sure hard to pass up. I should know, Toto has raided the trash several times. Last time I was lucky he only ate stale bread on the top layer and got so excited he didn't realize the chicken skin and chicken bones one layer underneath.

Would a puncture in the intestine or stomach cause a dog's heart to stop? I'm asking for real, I don't know. Did she ever say they got an x ray to prove it was a bone or obstruction? Did she ever say why they thought it was a bone?

On her fb she posted she needed to rehome her fosters because of her eye issues. When she started that fund raiser.

capt_noonie 12-11-2014 10:58 AM

Wow what a flat out lie. Do you have a copy of that post? If you are fostering, you don't rehome them yourself. First thing you do it talk to your own rescue group!

I thought I did. I swear I took a screen shot but can't find it. It might still be on there it was when the eye fundraiser started when was that?

The emergency vet Did a 2nd X-ray and found out that she has a few bone fragments in her intestine...they're hoping to medically treat it right now and pray that it helps. Ultra sound is next.... If it doesn't help they want to do an emergency surgery to fix the intestine if it tore anywhere...

Lilo has stopped breathing... her heart has stopped....
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/4065461-post127.html
They've managed to get a heartbeat back.. We're at the vet... We're hoping she'll stabilize again.. She's even worst off than before.. Will update when we can.. Looks like she'll be here for 4 to 5 more days [/IMG]but a least she's still alive... Please keep praying for her..
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/4065476-post135.html
We just saw her... She's on a breathing tube now they're back to square one and were tryin to stabilize her.. They asked for another huge deposit since she will be staying for a few days if she survives... She looks so sad... I managed to stop crying when we went to see her but broke down again shortly after... I can't believe she's going through this

**LILOS FULL UPDATE **
Hi Everyone,
Thank you all so much for your ongoing support during this difficult time with us. I just wanted to give you a brief update on Lilo's current medical status so we are all on the same page and can continue praying for her. We were hopeful that she would be improving after calling the vet at 3:00 am to check on her. They originally told us that she was able to sit up on her own and her gums were turning back to pink, but at 8am this morning Lilo's heart stopped and she went into cardiac arrest. We completely lost her pulse and heart beat for a few minutes and i begged them to keep trying... they managed to bring her back and she is still in critical condition at the hospital. She is now breathing through a tube which they hope to be able to take out in a few hours... They believe the cause of the sudden change was water developing around her heart due to a protein shortage. She is estimated to now stay another 3 to 4 days. That is all we know right now and we will be going back to visit her later this afternoon. We told her when we saw her how loved she is and ho many people are rooting for her as we speak. Her ears perked up at this, so we know out little angel is still there. We have put another $900 on our credit card towards her vet bill and have managed to raise over $1000. We thank you all so much again. We can never say thank you enough for all you've done with your support & prayers. Please help us continue to pray and share her story... She only has one wish this year and that is to stay here with us all....
-Cess, tam, & Lilo Kahlua
we've lost her... im going to say goodbye to her now at the vet. she went into cardiac arrest again and they revived her again... they said its best if we put her down.... please let everyone know for me.. i am so heartbroken.

I guess it was Lilo that got to be on television for a short time to compete with other dogs for some prize and fame and fortune. She posted the clip or a link to it. She is definitely not blind or close to it. The owner has no obvious disability.

If her current dog has qualified as a "service dog" it may be so she can take her to nursing homes, etc. I don't know if she actually does that. A service dog is far different than a seeing eye dog and the owner can do the training. They just have to have the dog pass a test given by the service dog association.

When I looked at her facebook page the other day I just saw various things she sells related to the dog, but I didn't go back very far.

yorkietalkjilly 12-13-2014 02:58 PM

I remember watching a TV show with Lilo in it doing tricks vs. other dogs on Animal Planet, back before I got Tibbe in 2008. I think Lilo pushed a small shopping cart, too, but can't recall what else she did. Can't recall the name of the show but I used to watch it on Saturday nights I think. That was a fun show.

Lili was on a show that had a dog that rode a skateboard. Lilo also rode a skateboard, played patty cake, closed the door of a wardrobe, pushed a shopping cart, etc., but I saw that much more recently than 2008 because I had Brody and he wasn't born until 2010...I got him in May 2011 when he was 14 months old. Lilo's owner posted about Lilo being accepted into the contest and onto the show prior to the show airing. I wasn't a YT member in 2008, either. Did she have a Lilo before Max, Joe bear, and Lilo Kahlua? Just curious...:)

I had no idea what other dogs she had when I watched Lila on that dog-trick competition show and didn't even know YT existed back then, when I watched it. Animal Plant reran the series later here and there and I'd even watch those when they ran. Animal Planet used to have a whole spate of dog-related reality type shows, some pretty funny, like one show about shall we say very different characters that traveled around and competed in dog shows! That show was a hoot!

This is the thread where she tells us about Lilo on the show. Def not in 2008. Cess didn't become a member till 2010.

Yeah, 2012 seems more the time frame I remember seeing Lilo on that TV show. I am not an Animal Planet fan so I would not have known about it if she had not posted it here.

I guess we all should do a bit more research of the posts that some people make. You would think that one death as a result of the poor breeding practices of tiny breeders would be enough to turn a person from such an awful business.

Many people that suffer through having a tiny with health problems have long, involved and expensive illnesses to deal with. Strange that her's just seem to drop dead so quickly.

capt_noonie 12-14-2014 09:04 AM

And how she affords to be able to get "replacements" so quickly?

TxVicki 12-14-2014 11:00 AM

Sheez I thought this thread had Drano poured on it and it was flushed down the toliet, BUT I guess not, it still lives. It just makes me sick to read this about these poor babies.

yorkietalkjilly 12-14-2014 01:22 PM

I sure seem to remember seeing a Yorkie named Lilo or a name sort of like that in an earlier dog-trick show on Animal Planet where adults vied with one another to have their dogs compete doing tricks in order to qualify for a bigger competition, before I even got Tibbe. Some of "trainers" seemed to mostly act like "stage mothers" to me and I'm pretty sure Tillman the skateboarding bulldog was in it. Seems like some of the early competitions were held out in the parking lots of big pet stores or something before the dogs qualified. Also seems like the parts of the show I'm remembering might have been a part of the first season of "Pet Star" but I'm just not sure. Or it could have been just a segment of some other show that had the trick competition in it.

Seems like the show I'm talking about even pre-dated the Animal Planet show series "Groomer Has It", which started I think in '07 or '08. Wonder if Cess had an earlier Yorkie, maybe or maybe not named Lilo, B4 she joined YT or if I've just totally "misremembered"?

I think it's good that this thread gets brought up once in awhile. I didn't know anything about Misa or Cess prior to reading it a few months ago. Funny thing is shortly after reading it a friend showed me a Misa video and I was able to tell her about it and knew not to watch the video (youtube pays for video views if your channel is popular enough).

Petco / Animal Planet "Who Let the Dog's Out" contest and Lilo was a finalist.

......and all of those shopping sprees she was going on in the beginning of this thread???

The chi's she was trying to give away were 6 and 8 years old, mother and daughter. Both were black and white and she definitely referred to them as fosters. She talked about how she had taught one of them some tricks and she even had their names mixed up at first:rolleyes: She had to rehome them because of her eyes. She had went blind in one eye and was supposedly going blind quickly in the other.

At one point, she must have been talking about selling her camera to fund her eye surgery because fans were begging her not to sell her camera. They wouldn't be able to see pics of Misa

She sure does seem to do a lot of "fundraisers." I checked on there a while ago and she had a pic of Misa wrapped up in raffle tickets.

Speaking of....there is another MisoMini facebook page with another tiny yorkie. She got another tiny(Mini Mac) and it died at 14 weeks and I believe, is now looking for another tiny. I will say, after reading, at least she was talking about educating people on the issues of having tiny's...like you can't leave them alone and the vet bills of having a bigger yorkie vs having a tiny one...and it seems like she's had problems with the one she's got now.....

BUT she was also looking for another one that was going to be that small...

Yeah, but it seems like this was an earlier show, was a different format I'd thought and I'm thinking it was before we'd ever heard of Tillman on TV. The show I'm talking about didn't have a "dog house" or anything.

So the chi's were IN ADDITION to the other yorkies we know about here? The blindness thing was pretty recent, so those dogs must not have ever been mentioned here. She left YT before those two I guess. I had no idea about the chi's. I thought she was trying to tell her followers that some of the yorkies that passed away from genetic issues were actually rehomed.

That other FB page, is that another person copying Cess? Or did Cess copy that person? So many similarities. Joe Joe also passed away at 14 weeks.
