| A friend of ours lived a few hours north of us and she and her dog used to find scorpions, copperheads, rattlesnakes, and wild boar. No thanks!

| I am with you on those creepy crawlies, hate bugs and anything slimy..there should be a law against those kind of critters.

I could probably manage quite well in a condo in a location like that? What about you? What would you add, subtract from that heading?

| Spiders and centipedes are two bugs that I detest. Something to do with the legs I guess. Don't have a problem with snakes. Maybe because they don't have legs I mostly run into garter snakes around here but I found the skin that was shed from a good sized snake behind my shed the other day! Makes me wonder what other things are creeping around at night! |

| Yeah, I think that's part of what's so creepy about snakes too - no legs. They aren't fish or seals and have to live on the ground yet can't walk or crawl even, have to - slither. Ewwww. I don't even like the word "slither". They look mutated or something - incomplete. Still, I don't know what it is that makes them so awful to me. Seals have no legs and I love them! Fish are fine, some even beautiful. Makes no sense. But peeking at one up close in the PET STORE is noooooooo fun to someone like me. I used to LOVE going into the pet store. Now I'm going to be gunshy & have my head on a swivel for a good, long while. I guess I'll just have to hold Tibbe up near my chest and let him run interference for me. He'll growl & bark if he sees anything long and skinny with beady eyes sticking out from anybody, I hope!!!

| When I was a kid my parents took us to a small zoo where a guy had a really pretty boa constrictor. He let people pet it and I discovered that snakes were not so bad and not slimy like I first thought. The majority of snakes around here are just as afraid of humans as the humans are of them. They don't want to be seen or touched. There are a couple of kinds of poisonous snakes that live in he north east but not known to be in our particular area. We have historical indian trails all around here and I still like to walk the paths now and then when I can. I do make sure everyone wears the right type of shoes and such and we do stay on the trails. Have only seen a few small garter snakes this year......except for that skin! Shows you how well they hide themselves. |

| At least she didn't get it. Yumi tries to eat every bug she sees. She scares the crap out of me. I hate all creepy crawlies... |

| Ewww gross. I've never seen one that big. To the poster about the snake do you have black snakes? We do and they shed huge skins. Thankfully they are not poisonous but the do love eating our chicken eggs. |

We have black snakes here too. Black snakes also like baby birds. So if there is a nest around they will try to get to them. DH don't like to kill the King Snakes because he says they kill other snakes. One of the nice coaches at my school brought in a spread atter (hope I am saying that right)! He brought it to me because I teach Science. All the students were looking at it but I was safely in the hallway! ![]() Here is what it looks like!

| /shudder you guys are freaking me out... I squealed and ran back in the house, and refused to take the trash out for like a month after I saw a garter snake by the trash can. He was maybe a foot long. I'd probably have a heart attack If I saw a big snake lol |
