Default Anyone had this happen or something similar?

So I know Geno pretty well to tell when something is bothering him. Last night for about 2 hours, he was scurrying around with his head down and his tail between his legs...or well, his nub was pointed down. It looks like he's walking around all shameful looking.

He'll do this if he has poop stuck to his butt so I went to check but nope, he was all clean. Not sure what was wrong with him. He would go back and forth from laying on the couch with me and lying under the couch. He wouldn't even get up when we got out the treat bag. Now for us, that's a MAJOR sign something was bothering him. I also felt him all over to see if he was in pain anywhere but no touch triggered a reaction. After a while he bounced back and started to play with his sister again.

I had to keep distracting his sister earlier though so she would stay away from him because I knew he didn't want her to bother him. We recently just switched their food almost a week ago. So I was thinking it might just have been gas or a tummy ache.

Anyone have an issue like this with any of their yorkies? I am not too overly concerned cause he seemed to come out of his little depression spout and was playing again, eating, drinking, pottying. Just curious on whether you notice your yorkies not feeling well for a little but then they eventually come out of it. I thought it was strange and don't want to dwell on it too much.

He could just have an upset tummy? If it were something that he was continually doing, I would get him to the vet... But it sounds like it was just a temporary thing.

Hmm not anything like that but Peanut has these really crazy spells! Seriously, sometimes he will (usually at night and if I don’t lock him in his crate) he will run around the house acting like a nut job that just escaped the loony bin! He will pace back and forth, then he will start licking the baseboards!! Yes licking the base boards! Other times out of nowhere he will start shaking and go hide in a corner, he usually snaps out of it pretty quick, but when he does these things I am thinking what in the world dog!!?? DH says that he has Bi-polar LOL, I think he is just my special little boy!

Hopefully it was just a crazy spell Geno was having, just watch him make sure all his normal- I’m sure he is ok, just sounds like a crazy yorkie spell!!

I feel like Georgie has strange behavior all the time lol my husband says he does it to worry me Sometimes he will just sit by himself like he's depressed or shake for no reason. It's been 7 years and I still can't figure him out. I think it's because they are Yorkies Our Boxer's behavior was so much more predictable.

LOL Crazy lil Yorkies haha!! It drives me crazy when he does that. For some reason if he isn't locked in his crate at night he will act like a loony bird @ the house LOL... So for his safety and for my sleep he is in his crate! Peanut licks the bed sheets like crazy too, and couch and pillows!

Confused AREN't YORKIES AMAZING?

Glad it was nothing serious with Geno. Now licking the base board is funny. LOL. Just be a little cautious it may be his anal gland's acting up. Maybe they are full. Is he scooting his butt on the carpet?

Elvis does this when gassy, its like tooting freaks him out and then he's ashamed of the smell lol.

Princess barks and growls at her bottom when gassy then looks around at us like we did something to her!

I hope this is the issue for you its the least concerning.

Tibbe spent the 1st 9 mos. of his life in a cage outside and had terrible fears when he first came to live w/me but now we're down to just his occasional fear of new or different sounds. I had the windows open yesterday and someone was using a circle saw for just a while & then stopped but Tibbe got spooked the moment it started & for about 2 1/2 hours or more afterward. Running around with his tail down, ears folded back, eyes wide, panting hard, shaking. I couldn't take him out for a walk right then to distract him so we did some training and he was fine during that. Then back to running around acting scared. Put a heavy sweater on him and even put him in his closed airline carrier with a shawl over it with the door shut for a while to give him a safe den. When he came out after about 10 mins. during which he whined a good bit, no better. We'd come so far in getting over his fears and now this panic attack! Distracted him with treats for a while & then back to fear.

This is what seemed to help: Tibbe is very independent and just hates being held in my arms as you would a baby, on his back with his feet up. He will just lie there & stare daggers at me & squirm to get up when I try this - and he looks so steamed when I do this it always makes me laugh and then I let him up. But I was out of ideas for the moment so I picked him up, shaking like a leaf as I lifted him, and held him like a baby for a while, he gave me daggers, squirmed & squirmed, and when I put him down, he was fine. His shaking, other fear signs were gone and he soon took a nap. Was fine after that.

All the things that had worked on him to completely stop his panic B4 it got bad just weren't working so I just kept trying things and why and if the baby-holding worked, or he'd just finally gotten calm on his own due to nerve fatigue or something, I don't know. But he's been fine since. I think something like a sound or a smell that they may associate with something bad or fearful can affect them at times - scare or depress or worry them - and sometimes even the standard treatment to get them out of it doesn't work. With a dog like Tibbe, I don't think I'll ever figure him out, just hopefully find ways to help him deal with things as they come.
