What next?

This has been a stressful few months at our household for the furkids and for me. First..Bogie has a lump on his back and it scares the poop out of me, turns out to be an abcess which antibiotics took care of pretty quickly.

Fast forward 5 months...Jada has a lump basically in the same spot as Bogie but hers is deeper and not an abcess so it was surgically removed, and thank goodness it wasn't cancer.

Next..our son who still lives at home has Max his 16 year old kitty who goes down hill fast from cancer in his kidneys...treatments did not work and we had to have him put down after a few weeks of treatments that didn't help and he quit eating.

Take the babies in for their annual checkups and everything goes great, but they are beginning to get stressed when we go to the vet now (never had been stressed about it in the past).

I split their vaccines up so we went yesterday for the remainder of their shots...Jada had been biting at her bum and scooting since Friday so I have our vet check her anal glands. Thank goodness he was able to express them as one side was blocked..so he recommends that a couple of times a week to hold a warm compress on her bum so they will hopefull not get blocked again.(she has never had to have them manually expressed before)

Then Doc reaches to get Bogie off my lap to give him his shot and he promply pees all over me:eek:(Bogie not the vet:D) Bogie has never done anything like this before. I think they have both had enough of seeing the doctor so much and Bogie was just really stressing to have peed on me like that.

I hope we don't have to go the the vets again until at least next checkups...Jada Bogie and Mommy have had enough of vet visits these last few months.

I go back for surgery again on the 18th. I am beginning to stress about drs and vets myself:(

Hope you have some kind of normalcy from now on. I pray that your surgery this time they get it all and you recover quickly. It has been a crazy month for me too so I can sort of relate to the stress level. Hugs to you and your gang!

Thank you Dyan:) I hate to be a whiner but I guess we are normally a pretty healthy bunch..I am not used to all these medical issues. I know it could all be so much worse than what it has been.

Joyce Adams 08-02-2012 07:57 AM

Heres hoping for a better year, sorry about all the stress, sometimes it can get overwhelming. Take care of yourself.

I most certainly would NOT characterize you as a "whiner"! Those issues all have to be hard to deal with, each on their own, much less all put together!:eek:Sounds like you've dealt with them with much grace, and my heart goes out to you, and your son for his loss, as well!

Bitsy 08-02-2012 10:02 AM

Oh, I'm so sorry things have been so tough. Sending lots of hugs your way....and good wishes for things to improve!

Sure seems like it goes in waves. I hope being peed on was the end of your ride and things can get back to a sense of normal.

southernbelle04 08-02-2012 03:06 PM

Bless your hearts! I hope things will look up and no more vet visits for a bit!

The pee issue was actually a little stress reliever..:D...I had to laugh, but poor boy was just scared. I looked at Bogie and said you did not do that did you..poor little guy looked so shocked himself we all had to chuckle a little bit:)

Thanks Amyee....it sure has been a stressful few months.

Connie 08-02-2012 03:50 PM

Sorry you've had such a miserable year. *HUG* Mine are all scared to death and shake like a leaf when I take them to the vet. I did try some comfort zone which worked pretty well for Libby, but not as much for Maddie. I feel so bad for them when they shake like that.

msyorktown 08-02-2012 04:10 PM

Oh my, bless your heart. Personally I'm not good with stress. You seem to be handling it with humour and grace.
Hopefully things will get to normal soon.
((HUGGZZ))

Thanks Connie:) My two were never afraid or stressed until just lately. My vet is only two minutes from the house and my Sister In Law and Daughter in Law are both techs there. I made it a point to stop in (we are in a very rural area) and just sit and chat, weigh them and let them see it wasn't a stressful place to go.
They have both had procedures in the last few months that are making them be stressed about it.
I may have to start using something when I take them in. Bogie didn't really act stressed except for the peeing on me, but poor Jada was shaking like a leaf.:(

Thank you so much Jacqui, I have always tried to laugh because it is just better than sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Laughter is the best medicine;):)

BabyGirl Rosie 08-02-2012 04:30 PM

Poor babies. It stinks to have to deal with so much all at once. Hopefully everything will calm down and go back to normal. And poor momma too. I totally understand the momma stress! Hang in there! Hugs from my girls!

kjc 08-02-2012 05:25 PM

Hope you all have a better year!

Isn't it typical, you add yourself as an after thought. I know it's a worry having even a small cancer, I had the same type as you on my face , needed two goes for it to be removed too. Try not to worry too much, these generally don't amount to much just not a very pleasant prospect . Hope your back is on the mend .:getwellso

Lil Sis 08-03-2012 08:46 AM

I hope it is all sunshine and roses from now on!!

I know it may seam like simple stuff to non dog owners... but as the saying goes..it is the final straw that breaks the camel's back.

so NO MORE STRAWS

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am not to worried about the cancer as I know it is not a very aggressive type...I just wish they had got it all the first go:( Bless your heart for having to have one removed from your face. I am missing a big hunk of my arm already and just dread the prospect of stitches and healing again.

and no more dusting either....:sidesplt: :sidesplt: would you believe that is how I injured my back:eek: It is so silly that bending over to dust the legs on a little table on my screen porch did this to my back.
I am down to one visit to my chiropractor next week. It is still a little weak, but no more excruciating pain.

Maximo 08-03-2012 10:23 AM

Poor Bogie! Praying for peace and normalcy for your family for a very long time. I agree with everyone above, Michelle you have handled these trials so well.

RustysMom 08-03-2012 08:19 PM

Oh Michelle! Let's pray the babies get over their nervousness and you won't have to face your health issues either. I don't pick out words to use well, but I am wishing blessings for you all. :love-hug3

Michelle, I hope things go smoothly for the next year and you have no more problems. You've had more than enough! Have a good weekend.:)

Teresa Ford 08-04-2012 07:16 AM

God Love them. They will get back to normal, with all that love you give them.

My lil friend 08-04-2012 08:13 AM

It sounds like you are having a bit of a tuff season in life. I hope that everything calms down for you.
