fish/coconut oil question Does anybody give their dog both fish oil and coconut oil |
I give Bailey the Grizzly Salmon Oil. I put a few drops in her food each meal. She devours her food. Her coat is shiny and lustrous. |
I give Toki maybe 1/4 tsp (I could give her up to ~1 tsp since she is close to 10 pounds) of CocoTherapy Coconut Oil for her skin and hair...any cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil will be fine though (You can get Nutiva from GNC for much cheaper). If you're interested in giving both, that would be fine but I'd probably alternate days though since they are both fats and yorkies are smaller dogs. Or I may just pick one based on what functions of the oil you are looking for your dog to benefit from (i.e. skin/coat health, anti-inflammatory, etc). |
We tried salmon oil once...... but it was too rich for my dogs. I think that there is already some in their food so maybe they were getting too much of it. I have heard that some YT'ers have had good luck with it. |
I give fish oil off and on - specifically Ark Naturals Royal Coat - I like this one bc it already has the needed extra Vit E in it, so you don't have to add it in separately. |
I give my golden fish oil (human capsules) but my Yorkies don't seem to need it. |
We started with a fish oil supplement a couple of days ago and my boys love it! They look forward to dinner and savor their food, which is funny because the oil is one little spot in the middle. Teddy was having terrible reverse sneezing fits that I think were caused by dry sinuses and or throat from the steroid he was taking. I believe the fish oil helped him. The sneezing has stopped. |
