| This may seem odd... ...but I was out in the British summer the other day and got bitten to pieces by a bug of some sort. It started to itch a day later, and what's odd is Dexter knew where it was sore and licked it better. Some may say "eww" at this point, I did, until I realised that it stopped hurting. He keeps doing it and I swear the swelling is going down. Had anyone else had this/thinks its awesome/thinks its disgusting? Answers below, the best will help maintain my sanity Much love from me and the wound licker dexter x |

| Before I got Bentley, I had the same thing happen with my mom's cat. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I know I hurt myself. She came, sat on my lap and started licking me. Minutes later, the same was gone. Like MAGIC. Crazy stuff huh? |

| It really is! I've tried bite cream and it's not worked, he licks it and the swelling goes from a golf ball to nothing. Miracle dog! I love him even more than possible now |

| Well, that explains the fact that Sami always like between my two fingers where I have Exczema! I always thought it was weird that it seems like she knows something is not right there.

| Our babies LOVE us! I dropped a box on my two big toes OUCH and Strudel would lick them everyday...i really think he helped them get better. He also licks my mosquito bites. It probably does sound nasty but heck your bite went away so WHO CARES LOL! Your baby loves you and wants you to get better fast

| Awww, you have a little doctor there I really do think that they have healing powers in those tiny little tongues My husband does marine construction (very brutal) had always had cuts on his arms, hands, and legs. Izzy will sit there and lick his boo-boos and he swears that they feel better and heal faster. I call her his little nurse

| Not disgusting. Dogs lick their babies, friends, and self. It is part of their caregiving instinct. All 4 of mine do this in verying degrees. Rubin licks all the time, Gracie if she is in the mood or wants something, Abby rarely licks (he is my therapy dog), Ginny Joy licks when she is happy or if I have a boo boo.

| Yep, Harry does this A LOT! I'm constantly burning myself on the oven shelves (does this happen to you, down near your wrists?!!? ) and Harry gives it a little lick, and it gets better much quicker!! One of our Boxers, Jessie, kept on and on and on trying to lick round my dad's mouth....turned out he had diabetes, and once he started on the insulin she stopped doing it. Clever little (and big!) Littlies! Sally + Harry x |

| Dogs and cats will both do this...it is natural for them to do this...lol...not that I like being covered in pet spit...lol...but there are enzymes in saliva...theirs and yours...that break down certain components....digestion starts in the mouth. In human digestion, the only reason we can taste anything is because we start to digest with saliva when we put it in our mouths...or so I understand. Quote:
