hi, yorkies are considered adult around 1 year of age but some do continue to grow some and change till 1 yr 1/2 |
It has been my experience, most reach their adult size between 8 months-1 year of age...their colors may not set until as long as 3-3.5 years old. Of course, like everything, you always have "outliers"..... |
I didn't know she will still grow after she adult age. |
They say human males stop growing at 25-26 years of age, and human women at 21. Yet, we're considered adults at 18. Go figure! :) |
I thought the hair color stop changing after she turn 1 year. I didn't know that it goes 3 3.5 years. so she might have more silver then what she got now by the time she almost 4 years of age. I am learning something new everyday about yorkie. so I know what kind of dog food to get next month when she turn 1 the adult when she done with the puppy one. |
I didn't know that either just that we are adult when we are 18 but I didn't know that we still go after that age. |

Ike the others have said, there might be a general guideline, but each yorkie is different. Some have growth spurts when they're 2 (I think my friend's pup Missy did) and some don't finish changing color according to plan either. My Kaji baby will be 4 years old next month and he's still changing some of his puppy black color for a rich gold on his head. I guess some yorkies refuse to follow the rules. :p |
oh yeah I didn't know all this I am short too and it didn't seem like I grow any in high school either. but I was just wanted to know more about when they turn adult I thought it was a 1 year. so I know if she still need the puppy one for her body or the adult one. so she might get bigger then what she is even when she is 4 years old and change color I will keep a look out for that. |
Um.... As far as food goes, I can only speak from my limited experience. Kaji came home at 12 months. I've been feeding him the adult formula foods since then. Maybe this would be a good question to call and ask your vet. |
yeah I never thought about asking the vet that one. I thought when a 1 year thats when when they do get the adult one |

For food, you should be okay to switch to adult kibble at around one year. Physcial maturing, the muscular density and strength, can continue to 2 2.5yrs old for Yorkies. Mentally, pups probably don't have a matured mindset, until may 2.5 - 3 yrs old. And some never get mature ... :D:D |
I didn't know that they have all stage of life food out there. but I will check into that one to see if the kind that she is on has it. I just might wait till she a year to changer or if she get done with the bag that she on before she turn 1 year old. |
I didn't know that some may never mature I thought they would mature by the time they are 2 years of age. but then I could be wrong about that. I heard that from the trainer that we went to but my puppy still not doing what she should be doing only when she want to do it. |
Laddy was at his adult size at 1 year but his coat changed until he was over 2 years old. |
so she will be more like at a adult by 1 year |
I also heard many types of dogs can take until 2 years of age before they totally mature. If a dog's life is truly measured in 7 to 1 human years, then that would put the dog at 14 human years. Lord knows I was immature at 14! :p |

yeah, when she is 1 year old she will be pretty much a full grown adult. |
I don't mind the mature thing take longer just want to know when she will be a adult so I know what to feed her when she turn 1 year of age. the puppy food or the adult food since we just don't want to go and get something and it's not what her body needs we just wat to make sure her body get the right things for her age. |
