| Dog that is both male and female?? How is it possible that a dog is born with both female and male genitalia? I was reading a breeders webpage and found that one of her dogs had both female and male genitalia. I'm just curious, I've never heard of this before.

| It happens with humans very rarely probably the same with dogs.

| Yes...hermaphrodites. In some species, some fish, for example, having both sexes is a normal condition. There are several ways it can occur in humans and other animals. It is almost the only way you'll get a male calico cat. It is not really all than uncommon in humans either...they may not want to widely advertise their situation, though.

| Dogs are born with birth defects such as only 2 legs or 6 toes, no eyeballs, etc., from time to time. I've read that breeders used to kill these puppies right after birth and today still, if the defect is going to cause a life of misery, probably many are euthanized.
