What is your dog's personality? I thought it would be fun to start a thread where everyone can discuss their pups personalities! If you had to describe your pups personality in a few short sentences, how would you describe him/her? Also, if you have more than one are their personalities different? I'll start! Ever since I got Piper, I have noticed that her and Teddy are somewhat alike but for the most part very different. :p Teddy is very loving an affectionate! I actually think he has become more affectionate towards us since we got Piper. He is a total protector! Teddy likes to play with other dogs, but is very very timid around people he doesn't know. I refer to him as my homebody because he is the most content when he is in our apartment. He really does not like to walk around the city, but LOVES to play in grass in the sub-burbs. He is a total cuddlebug and definitely knows how to get his way! He is a total daddy's boy! Piper is sassy! She is a total ball of energy. She is also very affectionate. She loves to play with other dogs and people. She is fearless! and a total explorer. She loves going on walks but she more so pounces like a bunny everywhere she goes. She is not much of a cuddlebug, but loves to give kisses and will give you one anytime you ask. She is a total momma's girl! Now tell me about yours! |
Our Darby is 4 mos old. She is so very affectionate and cuddly. Would love to sleep in your lap. But she is alo very curious and loves to go on walks where she MUST sniff out everything!!! Then back home to your lap! She also is great friends with our lab Magic. |
Jewely is very sweet and cuddly. She is a little bit nervous dog though and doesnt like change or anything out of the ordinary. Chachi is sweet very smart and adaptable to change or things out of the ordinary. He was a breeze to potty and obedience train They both are good at behaving and they are good that we can take them off leash and they wont run off but will stay with us |
Bailey is a very loyal pet. He can't wait to see you. If I'm gone 2 minutes he's jumping up and down as soon as I come back. He doesn't bark unless someone comes to the door. He likes people and other animals. When we walk the neighborhood he makes sure he knows what everybody is doing. We call him the neighborhood snoop. Just a great addition to the family. |
How fun!! Mr Wonderful AKA Sir Peanut Rosenmayer the 3rd… Haha No J/k His name is just Pnut, :D He is a very sweet little boy, he loves his Momma more than anything in the world- Where ever I am in the house he is in my sight! He loves to cuddle on the couch, play with his toys, lay in the sun take walks... He is very outdoorsy and he is also couch potato! He feeds on our energy, whatever we are doing he is doing :D He is also very neurotic, doesn't like change, doesn't like a lot of loud noises, has some OCD issues  He loves his space, would rather sleep in his crate than with Dh and I in the big BED, he is a little bed bug in the morning, I have to yank him out of his crate to go Pee in the morning :p He is a great little guard dog ( in his mind) He can scare just about anything away with one bark! He is my sweet little baby, he fits with DH and I perfect! |
Tibbe is a total toot and has the energy of a thousand toddlers and the "Me do it!" stubbornness to go with! His terrier determination is true and unparalleled and I am certain that if he were living on a farm somewhere in northern Yorkshire, there would not be a rat around for as far as his short little legs could carry him. But thank God, he lives here in Texas where all he has to do is have fun and "work" keeping squirrels and big birds and strange noises barked out - and to love me back. When he turns in his guard duty badge for a time, he can cuddle like an angel and has never left my side during my rehab from recent surgery. He's a wonderful mix of love, loyalty and lionheartedness. His favorite activity in the world is "training" - learning and doing his obedience tricks. And there is no greeting in the world like the one I get when coming home to Tibbe! |
Yay!! I love this...so happy I started it! I can't believe I forgot to mention mine are loyal! But aren't they all? :) |
Yoshi, my Peke is very sedate and can sleep anytime. He loves to cuddle and a Mommy's boy..Miss Prissy, my Yorkie is full of energy and gives kisses to let you know that she missed ya and love you. Also Miss Prissy got her name when I first got her and she went across the room wiggling that little tail and looking back to see if we were watching. LOL The furkids bring us so much joy and we love them with all of our heart. |
Couver is the most loyal dog I have ever met. He is my personal guard dog and will bark at any strange noise he hears. He is my cuddle monster and begs to be under the covers with me everynight by scratching until I lift the blanket so he can crawl under. He has several quirks: he doesn't like people running, bicycles, skateboards, little kids (especially when they move fast), and doesn't like it when men wear hats. He yelps with joy when I come home from work and will not go potty until I give him some love. He loves to travel and go places and he adjusts to pretty much anything. He is the boss and makes sure that the kitties and Khloe know it... all the time. Miss Khloe Mae is my aloof little alert dog. She will bark at anything (even when there is nothing...) and makes sure everyone knows where she's at. She loves to have her chin scratched and will often dramatically throw her head back to let you know she wants you to scratch her. She enjoys stealing toys from her brother, but won't bother with toys unless he has one. She is my bouncy girl and is full of spunk. She wants to play with other dogs, but does not want them to chase her. She is easily intimidated by others, but doesn't let her brother boss her around. When he tries to show that he is 'alpha' by growling at her, she will bop him on the head multiple times with her paw as if to say "You aren't my boss!" She is my kissing machine. She kisses everyone... She loves to give kisses to the cats, even after they pin her down, she will get back up and attack them with more kisses. They both have their quirky personalities, but I could not imagine my life without them :) |
Wonderful thread.. and a great way to see how many different and similar traits these furkids share! |
My daughter got ZoE for me and ZoE's personality is JUST like my daughter's!!! Sassy, active, playful, independent, plenty of attitude in a pretty package, and only cuddles when SHE wants to! |
Lola is sweet and sassy. she is def a girly girl., she is loyal and smart. Since the first day i got her she has been my shadow ( except when her daddy is home :( ) . She likes to cuddle BUT only when SHE wants. She also LOVES to chase squirrels and pigeons. Whenever we go to NH and let her off her leash she runs non stop in the park trying to catch squirrels. She could run for 1 hr straight. She is a teaser, she would go say hi to every dog on the street no matter how big or small they are and once the other dog gives her attention she walks away!!!!!!! :D but she gets shy in places where there is more than 2 dogs:rolleyes: p.s: she is a daddy's girl! |
My Maxie is a 6#, blue collar, mill ratter with a fancy pedigree. He backs down from nothing and no one. He loves FOOD! Especially people food. Goes crazy for mashed potatoes and buttered toast, although he gets very little of it. He goes nuts with any swiping motion -- a dust wand; a floor dust mop; washing a mirror or window... He's made inside-out. All his emotions and reactions are on the outside. What you see is what you get. Marley is Mr. Mellow... a go-along-to-get-along kind of guy. Occasionally gets enough of Mr. Big Stuff and has to lay him down... is devasted by a harsh word, wants everyone to be happy...can't stand tense voices or discord... will lick your face off if he thinks you're sad about anything...an absolute joy to be around. |

When Gracie was a puppy she was very bossy and liked to fight with toys and with me sometimes! She would growl and show her teeth and want me to play fight with her. I learned quickly that this was not a good idea. I had to try to discourage her growly play fight times and try to keep her calm. She had to be taught not to chase the cats or to bounce on people who came in the door. Had to give her lots of exercise and teach her some obedience and how to fetch. I think she would have loved to be a little ratter. Now she is a little cuddle bug. Every time I sit down she is in my lap. She is always good for a Sunday afternoon nap and likes to sleep under the blanket with me at night. She still loves to play but knows she can only play nice. She is a sweet little doll to me but can be pushy with other members of the household who have not taught her the boundaries and rules. She is a smarty for sure. I keep telling people that they need to be smarter than she is. |
How fun! I'll have to keep an eye on this thread and read all about your babies! Hmmm....Katie Scarlett.... Well, she is a total diva. Super girly! She loves to get dressed up and strut her stuff. She is a total attention hog. She thinks everything has to be all about her all the time...and it pretty much is. She thinks everyone has to say hi to her everywhere we go. She expects to be treated like the pampered princess she is! She is also very playful and easy going. She is just the perfect pup for us. She gets rowdy every now and then, but it keeps us laughing. She is my dream dog! I love her so much! |

I think he really believes he is "talking" during these sessions and will finish them by fastening me with the most serious, steady, soul-boring gaze one has ever seen, waiting soberly for my response. Thankfully, I mostly can figure his "Yorkie talk" out pretty well in the context of the moment and usually accede to his wants. When that happens, he seems utterly pleased with himself that he has communicated so effectively! So, it seemed the perfect shot for my YorkieTalk.com avatar. |
Fun thread! How wonderful to read all the different personalities! Lucy is 8 months old, very affectionate and full of energy, she loves to play with her toys and to have us play with her. She bounces everywhere and runs like crazy, she's all over the place. She likes to cuddle in the evenings, she pretty much believes my lap is hers. LOL! But, when it comes to her dad, she's totally his fan #1. My husband adores her and she follows him everywhere he goes and mommy doesn't exist anymore...hehe. I love to dress her but she really doesn't like the bows or head pieces too much, she actually takes them off with her two tiny paws. Sometimes I wonder if she knows she's a doggy. :p |
From reading these posts, I wish I had clones of all ya'll's Yorkies to finish off Tibbe's and my family!!! What a group we would be! |

Moka is a pleaser. She just hates it if she thinks you are upset with her. She comes across as timid and submissive, and will literally fall over stiff legged for you to scratch her tummy, but don't let her fool you, she's all about guarding her family at the same time. Mylee is a nervous, insecure little sweetheart. She has a panic attack over just the thought that she will be left behind and spends a good part of her day trying to determine if we're getting dressed to go somewhere or just getting dressed for the day and when to sit by the door in hopes to get to go along. But when she is certain we're all home for the evening she can be the best snuggle buddy anyone could ask for. A smart little girl who tries so hard. |

Furgie is so sweet and gets along with all dogs! She loves to catch a quick sniff of the new pup she just met or is greeting. She is super submissive and always rolls on her back to let other pups sniff her....sometimes so often I am like..FURGIE!!!! She is just so sweet, attached to my hip, very mellow, not a barker... Love that little girl so much! |
Mina is like having my youngest daughter at age 5 all over again. Mina is 14months old. She loves to play, have her hair cut,put her ponytail up and oh ya go bye bye. She sits in her carseat and talks to EVERYONE at every stop light (look Mom look!,Hi Hi can you see me!,Mom did you see that?!) all in yorkie of course and in her best outside voice. She likes going to the store and likes for people to talk to her,but would prefer they not pet her,you dont pet little girls, that is for dogs. Her favorite chew toy is the poodles back legs (Im blessed that he is so tollerant). If one of the other dogs has a toy and she wants it,she just lays down and tells them to give it over and they do. If they have something that was hers, she will bark and then come get me. Ya,just a bit bratty. Her favorite place to sleep is between our pillows at night or in my arms. Telling her to not bark does not work, she will look you straight in the eyes and do it just one more time, cause she can. If she does something else that she isnt supposed to do,like going upstairs, and you fuss at her. She will sit on the couch, pout and grumble. She is still a joy to all of us and growing into a wonderful young lady. |
These are fun to read. :D Well my Joel is 4 months old and I'm his totaly favorite person, if I leave the room he will sit with the saddest face ever and not do anything until I come back, his most favorite thing is when I hold him like a baby on his back, he will lay like that forever. He likes watching dog videos on my phone and he puts his paw on the phone. He's also such a good boy (even though he's a puppy lol) when I want to sleep in on the weekend he sits quitely in his crate waiting for me even when he's wide awake. He's just the sweetest lil boy ever. And than ofcourse theres the times he drives me crazy, but atleast he's cute! |
so interesting to read all thier different personalitlies... meesha is very very very nosey, always curious of whats going on around her, very aware, listening all the time to what people are saying, what thier doing, where they are..knows what she likes, if she dosen't like something she will bark and let you know immediatley. Only cuddles in the morning when she wakes up crawls under the covers and wants a belly rub, other than that she dosen't want to be touched.Hates laps, only wants to be held up by your chest or crawl onto your shoulder ...al, hyper and fast as a speeding bullet, then some days will be mellow.is a big piggy, vet told me to free feed her because she is a puppy, now thier telling me to stop and feed her diet vet food lol..she loves eating..her kibble and carrotts..loves new toys...turns into the most happy dog in the world when she gets new toys.. hates topknots and clothes other than sweaters..will tolerate it for photos then thats it...so is always naked usually.lol. hates new humans acts as if thier aliens coming to get her..but were working on that and has absolutley no intrest in other dogs, when meeting them she acts as if thier not there just wants to do her own thing.LOVES the hairdryer..expects to be hairdryed after being outside, runs to the bathroom to it and lays next to it..when anyone is using the hairdryer she runs to it and expects to be blowdryed, even though we keep our home extremly warm in the winter. Bit of a saucy brat but so cute loving and quirky..love her with all my heart!!..hoping one day she'll have a little yorkie and sheltie brother to play with:)..in a few years.. hehe |

And poor thing, when my sister puppy sits him, he'll have an accident because she doesnt know his language, and she said he looks at his accident sadly, like he was realy trying to tell her, and I just love that he knows I "get him." |

Very playful and energetic and friendly. Fun loving. He's not a real cuddly dog like a lot of others I know, but he will snuggle with you if HE thinks it's convenient. |
Belle is a little sweetheart. She adores her family and her two big "brothers", Ziggy and Oliver. She thinks it's her job to keep track of what the cats are up to. She LOVES to play with toys, and always brings her favorite green loofa dog to bed. She's very smart and enjoys training. She follows the lead of her brothers and if they like someone who comes to the house, then so does she. But, if we are out in public, she doesn't like other dogs to come to close or she will growl/bark at them (we're working on changing that) She also doesn't like strangers coming up to her, but that's ok, neither do I. She's very vocal, and always wants to let me know what's on her mind. She is my constant shadow and cuddle buddy. |
I love this thread!! Everyone's furbaby sounds so amazing. I love how, if your in touch with your lil one, you will definitely understand who they are and their personality. When we first got Darla she just seemed to be a very scared and timid girl. But after about a week that all changed. She is my bff. Where ever I go she goes. She is not a barker by no means, and all she ever wants to be happy in her little life is for Mommy to scratch her belly and to comb her hair. She is very loving to my skin babies. Whenever they are sick she is right there sleeping at their feet. She'll get up every so often go up to their head to check on them, and give them a lil loving kiss. But when they are feeling well she will go to them to get some super loving, and for some play (she loves dancing with my middle son). But for the most part she follows me around the house and when I'm busy she will lay at the doorway until I move on to a different room. If you were to meet her at home, you would think she was the calmest and laziest dog in the world. But if you were to meet her on one of our outings you will come to realize she LOVES being outside running around and playing in the grass. She also LOVES her car rides. If she sees me getting ready to go outside (putting on my sweater) she'll go run to the sun room door so that I can put on her coat so that she can go with Mommy. I feel like there is so much more I can write about her. She is so full of personality and I absolutely adore her with all my heart. |
