Loving all of these pics, I think all Yorkies are just too stinkin cute... |
Me too. I am totally addicted! |
The more pictures I see the more I want another :D |
Ears 1 Attachment(s) My pups usually have their ears fully up by 7 weeks of age...I agree that sometimes they will go up and down during teething. I have heard that some breeders have to tape them up, but I can only speak for mine. Lots of cute pictures posted:) Here's one of my Paige at 7 wks. as an example. Debbie Tea' Katie Tasha Paige |
4 lbs 9 oz at 5 months Do you think he'll be pretty big when full grown? I just got him last week, so I can't do the double the weight calculation that's been recommended. |

I called the breeder and she said both of Bear's parents ears were up. Does this have any indication as to what his will be like? |
hmmmm What about the other pups from the litter? Are their ears up? Or previous litters? If none of their ears have stood on their own, maybe she should have taped them or like a lot of people, they love their pups with their ears floppy??? :p |
Hi! My Bear was 3lbs at 12 weeks and 5 lbs at 6months. He now weighs a little under 6 lbs and is 15 months old. He grew up front as his breeder said he would. His Mom weighs 6 lbs and Dad weighs 4.5 lbs. He stopped putting on weight at 8 months. He also had floppy ears (just the tips were flopped over)and I taped them at 5 months and they went up. One tip of his ear is still weaker than the other ear and sometimes will flop over...especially if he is tired. I think it is so cute. |

Sometimes you just can't get ears to do what you want when you want! Poppets ears came up exactly 1 week before her 1st birthday (which is actually in less than 3 hours- well, her birthmin is really in 14.20 hrs give or take) and I had just accepted the fact that her ears were never going to work- I'd tried Everything up to that point, but was grooming er and decided to thin her ear hair... Maybe she knew I needed a smile :D That's my Popp in my avatar- if you look really closely you should be able to see the tip of a wooden coffee stirrer on her ear. I think that is what ultimately got her ears up ( they held them up for a fair while, but then they dropped again) but I don't know, I did try every taping and trimming method out there- the sticks were me and the class trainer(who uses the method with her show collies) grasping at straws... But sometimes, straws need to be grasped! I did get some crackin' pics of her floppy ears though; I'll upload them once I get to a computer ;) |
Max's ears stood up sometime when he was 4 months. (But they do flop when he sleeps or get tired). Here's a thread that has a few more options on how to get them to stand. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...oppy-ears.html |

You're welcome!! & Thanks we love Bear, Sophie, AND Ziggy.. all of your babies are precious.. Oh and the yogurt REALLY works (if you're going to try that) just make sure its ALL natural! Good luck! |
Oh my gosh Belle is sooo cute!!!!!!! How old is she? I love how yorkies can look much the same yet all so different!!!! |
The breeder I got Pixie and Roxie from said her lines tend to stop or really slow down by 6 months of age. Pixie was an adult when I got her so I don't know on her, but Roxie really had a growth spurt from 4 to 6 months and then just put some weight on but not height. I would guess Bear could end up anywhere from 6-7 lbs. Just a guess though. |

Thanks! She is a year and a half. It's amazing how these precious puppies touch our lives, isn't it? |
My Max was just 4 1/2 # at 15 months... he seemed very frail, but vet said he'd like him to stay at or under 5#. Well... Mr. Garbage Gut is now a solid 6# at 26 months and solid as a rock. They will continue to grow and thicken at least thru the 3rd year. I think show dogs are kept very lean, but the natural state of Yorkies is probably more in the 10 to 15 pound range. |

1 Attachment(s) Tilly's ears have never stood up. She is now a year old and they are still floppy just like when she was a pup. |

meeshas were up at 6 weeks lol, she was the only one in the litter of 3 with them up, but the breeder kept her ear hair trimmed very short, which i think helps...maybe try trimming his ear hair? |
