When did your Yorkie "grow up?" Hello all! Our little guy Oliver is nearly 5 months old now, and I think he is entering the teenager phase. He is suddenly not interested in his old toys, and he has been mouthing a bit more (he completely stopped between 3 and 4 months old). He also has been running up and trying to play with us, and then deciding to run under a piece of furniture and bark. (It's pretty funny actually.) He also has started to hump things! We plan to get him neutered when he is 6 months old. How old were your Yorkies when they became teens? How old were they when they started acting like adults? |

Brew is just over 6 months now and i definitly noticed a change in him as well. the barking and humping started at 6 months. but the teeth started coming out at 5 months. You seems to be coming along normally to me. |
NEVER! LOL.... no, Jackson is 3, but I'd say he's not too much different than when he was 6 months old. He never was a big chewer anyways, and whatever he chewed back then, he still manages to find now, hahaha. He's got a problem with finding bottle caps, or little pieces of plastic, or Barbie dolls, but it's usually only when he's bored and under-exercised. In general, I'd say he's still just as active, if not more, than when he was a puppy, but still has the capability to chill around too. But he still has an ornery side to him that I just love. I guess it's just not so constant anymore... it's not like I have to keep an eye on him 24/7 from getting into trouble or anything like that. Oh and around the 8 month mark he began sleeping in late with me which was awesome. |
Lol, Never here too! My 15 year old has been neutered for probably 13 years, he still humps the cat (actually all 3 cats, not all at the same time though), and his new game in the bed is called 'Alligator'. He gets all wound up and will start snapping at my hands. He still has some teeth left and nails me every now and then! I'm just glad that he can at his age, lol! It's the most he's played since I've had him, at 5 years old.:D |
My Maggie turned 1 year and over night started behaving herself, no more accidents in the house, not destroying anything in reach. Its wonderful, but we did puppy classes from 6 months on, and i think maybe she just gave up on being a little terrorist!at 15 months now she is chewing things again (only my things though, she leaves my husbands things alone). She never destroys them, its more of an attention thing, as she brings them right up to me and starts attacking them. Her recent fetish seems to be my socks. So good luck it will happen! |
Max changed at 1 year and 3 years. Teddy matured much more slowly. He was about a year behind Max's schedule. |
Ziva was a brat puppy- and we loved every minute of it... She changed a little at 18 months and suddenly "grew up" at 2 years old. Abby(6 months) has been calm since we bought her home but I can see a little stubborness now that she is teething (started 2 -3 weeks ago)I think she will get worse before she reverts back to her sweet personality. I am holding off on the spay in case some teeth need to be removed. |
